About this clinic
Wound Evolution, a hyperbaric medicine clinic in Overland Park, Kansas, specializes in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for wound care and recovery support. The clinic focuses on chronic wounds, non-healing surgical wounds, and post-operative healing, using pressurized oxygen to support tissue repair and reduce infection risk. HBOT is an evidence-based modality that increases oxygen delivery to damaged tissue, promoting angiogenesis and collagen formation. Treatment protocols are individualized based on wound assessment and clinical presentation. The clinic also offers post-surgery recovery support and oxygen therapy as adjunctive care. Patients typically work with the clinic across a defined course of treatment, with progress monitored thr
I have been a patient at Wound Evolution for years, and the staff is excellent. In the 16 years I’ve been dealing with this wound, this is the best care I’ve ever received.
My only concern is that whenever corporate is in the office or new corporate rules are implemented, it negatively impacts the clinic. Everything slows down, the atmosphere changes, teamwork suffers, and ultimately my wound care suffers as a result.
It consistently feels like corporate does not trust the highly capable staff they’ve hired. I’ve noticed repeatedly that when corporate is not present, the office runs like a well-oiled machine and is far more productive.
I hope leadership will place more trust in their excellent staff—continued micromanagement risks losing the very people who make this clinic exceptional.

I had a bad allergic reaction to the antibiotic prescribed that caused me to go to the ER. I was told I needed surgery
to remove the calcium in my wound. M; Dr. Gummiel began using a scraper & clippers and began trying to remove the calcium in my wound. Only low grade lidocaine was put on top of the wound and I felt every bit of the pain. I said," you said I was going to have surgery." Without looking up at me she said,"sometimes surgery is not good." Another dr with her offered her hand for me to hold and was apologizing for the pain I was experiencing. She even asked Dr. Gummiel if she needed more light to see. She declined and continued to clip at my wound. I couldn't take it no more and I screamed at her to stop. She not once offered words of comfort or an apology but left the room while the other doctor tried to offer words of comfort. Afterwards the nurse said, "maybe you could take some pain meds before you come the next time." I replied, "no you guys need to use a stronger anesthesia." There was Never going to be a next time!!
A dentist deadens your mouth, the vet puts animals to sleep, and here I was having a surgical procedure done; calcium being clipped from an open wound with low grade lidocaine.
Oh, the ER visit ended up being six days in the hospital. I have been traumatized beyond words, and still when I talk about it I want to cry. BEWARE!!!

I went in with a terrible wound on my shin which I’d had since September, seven weeks ago feeling as if it would never heal and with no idea what I needed to do. The staff immediately had a plan which they implemented that day and today I walked out with it healed. They felt like very knowledgeable friends from the beginning and I feel blessed to have been referred to them. I can’t thank them enough!

I felt like I was in great hands at Wound Evolution. I never thought I'd heal so well or so quickly. All the clinicians & staff were very caring, helpful, kind and attentive. They even walked me through things over the phone when I had questions. Their care made a real difference in my healing and I would recommend them to anyone.
Thank you, team!
