Holistic Child Psychiatry

Dr Heffner, a true functional doctor, takes anincredible amount of interest in workingdiligently to find solutions to complex cases. I saw wonderful reviews about her care/treatment and most importantly how she works through various testing options to find the root of the problem, before starting treatment, even if very complex. She is constantly continuing her education, especially about complex health concerns that cause of a variety of confusing symptoms which many other practitioners have often missed. She is super at reminding us that the source of illness is not always easy to determine, and the number of geneticvariants, environmental contributors/exposures and metabolic abnormalities can make the diagnosis more difficult. She does not give up on working with the parents to help the child improve as much as possible. and works very hard to customize treatment for the patient based on their unique biochemical presentation. Dr Heffner helped us save our daughter's life.

I saw Dr. Hefner for a couple years and she assisted me in getting off my SSRI that another psychiatrist had put me on a pretty high dose and was causing me much more harm than good. It is with Dr. Hefner's guidance (and of course my own hard work as well) that I have been able to get my depression truly under control, without meds, after being majorly depressed for years. Dr. Hefner focuses on integrative psychiatry, meaning she doesn't just sit there and ask you questions; she has you do a full metabolic panel to look at the physiological root of your mental health symptoms including diet and nutrition among other vital contributing factors to your health like hormonal and chemical imbalances. She is very kind and easy to talk to, and she explains to you exactly her reasoning behind her course of treatment. She caters to each patient as an individual and actually seems to care about her patients well-being instead of just putting you immediately on drugs that have harrowing short term and long term impacts on your body, which I cannot say about many of the psychiatrists I have seen. She may not always be perfectly on time and she unfortunately does not take insurance, but she truly was the only psychiatrist who could offer the kind of treatment I needed to finally conquer my "treatment-resistant" depression. She is a damn good psychiatrist and an honest, kind, and brilliant human being and honestly sometimes I miss doing sessions with her.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE CHARGED 4 TIMES 700 DOLLARS TO OUR ACCOUNT. BEFORE APPOINTMENT. SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO ANYONE. Update money is still not back to me. Tried calling no fast call back or awnsers. Everything on there time.
