I had an excellent experience at Illinois Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery Center . From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and highly professional. The facility was spotless and well-organized, which gave me confidence in the quality of care I would receive. My surgeon and the medical team took the time to explain everything thoroughly, ensuring I felt comfortable and informed throughout the process. The procedure went smoothly, and the post-operative care was exceptional. The nurses were attentive and compassionate, making sure I was comfortable and well taken care of. I highly recommend Illinois Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery Center to anyone in need of a surgical procedure. Their dedication to patient care and safety is truly outstanding!

I had surgery done here to fix a broken hand. This was the facility where my IBIJ surgeon does her surgeries. I assumed it was associated with IBIJ. My experience with IBIJ and my doctors have been great, but this place is SKETCHY. When I showed up to get my surgery, they made me pay for it upfront. I asked why and said that I wasn't going to do that. And the lady was just like "well this is how we do it here." So it was basically like, you need to pay us now, or we can't do the surgery today. Weird. Didn't feel right. I asked to go on a payment plan so I wasn't paying the full amount out of pocket before an official claim was submitted to my insurance. My insurance company needed additional information to process the claim, and 6 months later, they still have not received what they need to process the claim from the surgery center. I have called the billing office number. Not once has someone answered. I've left messages. Nobody calls back. I've spoken with receptionist after receptionist who has no idea who to deal with this problem. They've assured me they would get this dealt with and inform their billing team of what was needed. Nothing.

My experience with the scheduling process and the nursing staff at the center was truly dreadful. I had an appointment for a brief 10-minute hand surgery scheduled for 1:45. However, upon my arrival, Nurse #1 informed me that the doctor was running behind schedule, and I would need to wait for approximately an hour. After enduring an hour and 15 minutes of waiting, I was finally ushered into the procedure room and instructed to strip to my underwear. To my dismay, Nurse #2 then conveyed that the doctor was encountering complications, and the wait would be extended by another hour, or possibly even longer. Around 4:15, I inquired about the ongoing delay, only to be informed by Nurse #3 that the doctor was still running late, and I would have to wait ANOTHER hour. Exasperated, I requested my clothing and decided to leave. Nurse #1 subsequently suggested that if I leave and reschedule there was no assurance the same delays would not happen so “don’t you just want to wait another hour?", but I harbored doubts that more delays wouldn't recur, so I declined - besides, I was too P.O.ed to stay. The most astonishing revelation came when I uncovered the fact that the doctor was not, in fact, running late, nor were there any issues with a prior surgery. The scheduler had made a grave error by double-booking a 2.5-hour surgery at the same time as my 10-minute procedure. Consequently, each time the nurses told me "another hour," they were fully aware that the doctor's schedule was blocked until at least 4:30 or 5:00, and they purposefully lied and misled me to deter me from leaving. Moreover, when I rescheduled at a different surgical center, I was informed that 1) my type of surgery should always be scheduled as the first procedure in the morning or the last one in the afternoon due to its nature and time requirements, and 2) there was no need to undress completely; only removing my shirt was necessary. It became evident that the previous center's protocol was designed to make it challenging for patients to opt out. I promptly reached out to the Center Administrator (Lawrence Parish ), who did respond but indicated that he needed to conduct an investigation and speak with the head nurse. However, he mentioned that the head nurse was out of town until the following week. It has now been more than a week since his initial response, and I have yet to receive any further communication or a resolution to this matter. FOLLOW-UP ON MY REVIEW DATED 10/27, it has now been four weeks since the unfortunate experience I encountered with them (as mentioned in my prior review). Despite Lawrence Parish, the Center Administrator, assuring me of a follow-up the subsequent week, I have not received any response from him. I understand that mistakes happen, even from companies or individuals, but the way they handle it speaks volumes about their care. It's clear now that Lawrence Parish and Illinois Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery not only lack concern but also seem to condone the behavior of their nurses/staff.
