I had physical therapy with Dr. Michal Tekle for several months in 2025 and can’t recommend her enough! I was fairly out of shape recovering from a joint replacement and she calmly guided me to better balance, strength and range of motion, not only for my new knee but my overall health. She has a calming presence and is encouraging when you are least motivated. Her use of dry needling was a tremendous help with my pain management. She is a top-notch practitioner.

It is such a relief to be working with a truly competent and professional therapist who also has a great personality. Each session feels both productive and positive — the time flies by because we’re focused, but it never feels overwhelming or tedious. I am especially grateful to be back after a four-year break, and I can honestly say it’s been a great decision. The care, attention to detail, and overall experience have exceeded my expectations. I feel confident I’m in good hands and making real progress.

Backs are so tricky! I’ve had issues with my lower back for close to 30 years. About a year ago it changed and started getting painful while standing & walking. I called my PCP, and she referred me to 2 places in my area that specialize in – among other things – back pain. I called the first place, and they said they could see me in 10 days. I didn’t want to wait but I started giving them my medical information over the phone. About ½ through I told the girl that I needed to see someone sooner and that I would call back if I couldn’t get into the other office. The other number I was given was Point Performance on Goldsboro Road in Potomac MD. The had an opening in just a few days – so I was glad about that. They took my medical information over the phone, and I emailed them my prescription for diagnosis and treatment of the lower back pain. I was given an appointment with Michal Tekle – who was just great. She went over all of the possible treatment options and from the information I gave her - she decided therapy was the best place to start. I made 5 1-hour appointments – one per week. At each session Michal would teach me what exercises I was to do daily following the session. The sessions consisted of about 10 minutes of consultation, asking how the pain has been progressing, then 20 minutes of back deep massage which was really beneficial. She knew exactly where to put pressure to loosen the lower back muscles that had tightened up and were causing pain. The massage was followed by 30 minutes of exercises – new ones I was just learning and a few carry overs. Michal watched the exercises to make sure I knew how they should be done – which was helpful. My pain started to diminish after the 2nd or 3rd session. After the 3rd session Michal did something called dry needling which I guess is akin to acupuncture. She inserted small needles into the muscles in my lower back at strategic places. As she performed this procedure, she would tell me what she was doing each step of the way – asking if there was any pain. There wasn’t any pain to speak of – it just felt like an injection. I’ve got 2 more sessions and after that I think I’m going to see about extending the prescription. I was concerned the therapy might not work but Michal – being the complete professional – guided me through a course of treatment that is working. At each session Michal would tell me I could make an appointment with either of the 2 doctors on staff if the pain started to reverse – which fortunately didn’t happen. Yes, backs are tricky but Michal over at Point Performance is one of the best. Highly recommended – consummate professional. Definitely would recommend. Thank You Dave K.
