Patient reviews

I had an appointment with Dr. Scott Faucett in May 2025 after being referred by another specialist. Given my history of chronic hip pain and two prior hip arthroscopic surgeries, I came to the visit hopeful that he could provide insight or guidance. Prior to the appointment, I sent three MRIs, operative reports, and physician notes to his office. At the appointment, Dr. Faucett had not reviewed any of the materials and told me I needed a recent MRI before any discussion could take place—even after I informed him that multiple MRIs had already been provided. I brought physical copies to the visit, but he still declined to review them and required a new MRI before proceeding. It took over a month to obtain the MRI, followed by another month of difficulty getting his office staff to upload the images from my orthopedic clinic. I eventually scheduled a virtual follow-up. Unfortunately, Dr. Faucett was again unprepared. He had not reviewed the images beforehand and did not systematically discuss the hip structures (capsule, labrum, cartilage) or how the findings related to my symptoms or surgical history. I had to initiate nearly all of the discussion. His conclusion was brief and definitive—he stated he would “just patch the capsule,” and that someone would contact me regarding surgery and cost. There was no meaningful explanation, shared decision-making, or discussion of alternatives. I ended the call feeling deeply disappointed and uneasy about the level of care. Based on the repeated lack of preparation and follow-through, I chose to seek care elsewhere immediately. I later consulted another surgeon in November 2025, who reviewed all of my imaging with me in detail, discussed my prior surgeries, validated my experience, and engaged in a respectful, collaborative conversation. Ultimately, my surgery required more complex reconstruction, grafting, and scar tissue debridement—none of which were addressed or identified in my consultation with Dr. Faucett. While Dr. Faucett may be skilled in certain cases, my experience was one of dismissiveness, lack of preparation, and poor communication. I am grateful I did not proceed with care through his practice, as it would have cost me significant time, money, and potentially prolonged pain.

I had two unsuccessful surgeries with Dr. Faucett: the second left me unable to walk. I found Dr Faucett and the PT at GWU with whom he compiled the Hip Preservation program to both be dismissive of my pain and complaints after the second surgery that left me cripple. Dr Faucett was even dismissive of the post op MRI results. After telling me for months that I would be better in a month or two, Dr. Faucett finally yielded to the pathologist’s finding and declared I now needed a total hip replacement. I got a second and third opinion – which I wish I had done before the second surgery – and ultimately did my hip replacement with another surgeon. The before and after care at Anderson Orthopedic were far superior. If you are told you need a labrum replacement, make sure to ask what the success rates and seek second opinions. I think I could have skipped that surgery entirely and just had a replacement, which would have spared me a year of misery.

Dr. Faucett performed total hip replacement surgeries on both my Left and Right Hips in the past 10 months. Prior to the procedures, I could not walk due to the intense arthritic pain in both of my hips. I was very active prior to my arthritic hip pain and now after the surgeries, I am able to work out again at the same 6 days /week 100% intensity level. I have not had 1 second of pain or discomfort! Not only is Dr. Faucett an amazing orthopaedic surgeon but his entire team (Surgery Scheduler, Pre Op, Post Op, Surgery Team, Office Staff) are friendly, professional and thorough. I am about to turn 60 and would like to thank Dr. Faucett and his assistant Rae for making me feel like I’m 20 again!
