Patient reviews

They will bill a moderate-high level visit (code 99204) for less than 10 minutes with a doctor and no procedure. The doctor didn’t even come within 5 feet of me. Got charged up the wazoo for nothing.

Tried for 2 weeks to make an appointment. Finally got a call back only to be told incorrect information about my insurance and refusal to schedule an appointment for me. If they can't even manage the simple process of scheduling a new patient appointment I can only imagine how poor the care is.

If you have never had a terrible experience with a medical system, I urge you to avoid UM Dermatology at the South Miami location. My experience was nothing short of a nightmare. I scheduled an appointment through the UM system, clearly stating that I needed a wart removed from my forehead. I uploaded my insurance information and ID, and my appointment was confirmed for September 11. I arrived, checked in, and was seen by the doctor. After reviewing my case, she confirmed that the wart needed to be removed—exactly what I had explained when making the appointment. The doctor marked my forehead to begin the procedure, but then she left and returned to inform me that my insurance had not yet approved the procedure. She cleaned my forehead with alcohol and dismissed me from the consultation. I was instructed to schedule another appointment in three weeks, which I did. When I asked if I needed to call or take any action on my end, I was told no. Upon returning on September 25, having received confirmation of my appointment through the platform and completed the pre-check-in, the receptionist informed me that my insurance had not approved the procedure due to a mismatch with my primary doctor's name. I asked why I was not informed about this issue. She mentioned that they tried to call but I did not answer. I inquired why they hadn’t left a message and expressed my confusion about why I received confirmation of my appointment and was asked to complete the pre-check-in if there was a problem with my insurance. Unfortunately, the receptionist had no answers. In summary, I believe that my experience may have saved me from potential issues. If the administrative staff is this negligent, it raises concerns about the quality of care provided by the physicians as well. I cannot understand how a medical professional could work with such an inefficient support staff. I will never return to UM, for reference, my appointment was with Dr. Elizabeth Anderson at the UHealth South Miami location. Maria Suarez
