Valley Sleep Center- Phoenix

The Scottsdale office offered me a ring to wear overnight. Determined my PAP need from the results. Referred me to a provider that had terrible reviews. I called my insurance company for the name of another provider. That provider fitted my CPAP mask via a telephone call (yes, really) which was a total failure. Initially, I believe, Valley Sleep Center should have had me meet with someone for a fitting to determine the best fitting mask for me. They did NOT. What a waste of time. I would NOT go back to the Valley Sleep Center located in Scottsdale.

I am so grateful that I found Dr Townsend. We are so lucky to have him here in the valley of the sun. He is highly competent, caring and he clearly wants to help. I first saw him in July of 2019 for severe insomnia. Within a few weeks, I went from sleeping 0-4 hours a night to 5-7 hours a night. In fact, I started sleeping better the first week and kept getting better after that. It only took 2 visits. Dr Townsend checks up on you after visits via emails, text or phone. He makes sure the sleep plan you created together is working and he provides advice on how to tweak it when certain aspects do not go as planned. I saw him again in November of 2020 after a mental breakdown, while I was under treatment for severe depression. It only took 1 visit and less than a week after I started sleeping 5-7 hours per night again, which allowed the therapy to kick in. He kept checking on me well into December via email. I found out that in order to treat depression with therapy, you have to be rested for your mind to take it in. THANK YOU Dr Townsend! Your caring treatment was instrumental in my recovery.

Although I do not want to provide specific names of staff members in this review, I will be finding a new provider after my last experience here. While waiting to be checked in for my appointment I overheard one of receptionists telling another that the provider I would be seeing was in a "terrible mood" and that he would not be seeing any patients that arrive even a minute late that day. This is both unprofessional and quite alarming, especially in a service industry like health care. Needless to say, when I met with the doctor, my appointment was rushed, and he seemed quite annoyed to be there. As patients, we pay a lot of money for our care, and I prefer not to be treated with contempt by my provider, especially when there are better options out there.
