I would not refer friends here. I became suicidally depressed from the intense hormone cocktail he gave me.
If you're down to be a guinea pig and take experimental treatments, this place might be OK for you. Personally I didn't understand the risks I was signing up for when I told him I was worried about the side effects of normal hormone replacement therapy, and agreed to essentially let him use me as an experiment, giving me extremely high doses of testosterone, estrogen, and synthetic progesterone all at once. Six months later, after giving him $3000, it feels like I'm on my period and anabolic steroids at the same time constantly 24/7.
He never checked my hormone levels or organ functions, despite that I told him I struggled with chronic depression in the past. Other medical practioners were surprised when I said this. After my last dose of hormones, I've suddenly felt extremely suicidal for weeks despite taking antidepressants, having an excellent therapist whom I speak to weekly, being happily married, and being very successful in most areas of life. Dr. Odea's cavalier approach when administering hormones was dangerous for me personally, and I'm now seeking another doctor to remove the implants he put in me.

I had a surreal interaction with the personnel in this office. I got in there because the door was open and I thought I was getting into my new Dermatologist's doctor office. As I came in, the receptionist came in and asked me politely if I needed anything. The moment I said that I was looking for Dr. (Name)'s office, instead of simply telling me that I was in the wrong suite, or helping me, she asked dryly: "Have you read the sign on the door?" I said no, I haven't. Apparently, on one side of the glass door there was a sign stating "Do Not Disturb", in a printed white sheet stuck to the glass. I had simply missed it. We are all human. I said "No, I hadn't seen it". Before I could continue, she started shouting "You have to go". I said, "well you are very rude, that's not how you should talk to someone who made a mistake". All of a sudden, I hear from another room a male voice yelling "Go away, you have to get out!". I couldn't believe my ears. I went to the room where the angry voice was coming from, and found this man sitting on his desk while eating breakfast. I told him that the door was open and I wanted to ask for direction. He didn't let me finish. He kept shouting at me. I was so shocked that a doctor would be so rude and had such bad manners. I took out my cell and said "Please say it again, now". The moment he saw my cell phone he got dead silent. I left as the woman was calling security.
BEWARE. THAT MAN HAS AN ATTITUDE PROBLEM AND HER RECEPTIONIST IS JUST THE SAME.

I decided to write this review because I experienced too many painful visit! Finally, at my last visit earlier today, I reminded him when he was going straight to cut without waiting for the numbness to take effect! O’Dea ignored my reminder that it was too painful on me last pellet hormone procedure. He did it again this time as painful as last time! I like him to understand it takes a lot to get ready for his procedure, particularly with too many past painful visits!

I found him when I was local to Los Angeles, I still see him when I fly into L.A from Cleveland. To me, he is a great doctor, with a great practice, and I love his methods and products. The only real complaint is any conversation we have is always heavily one sided, and I'm not usually able to get a direct answer at times. But that hasn't been much of an issue. So the service hasn't been any more interpersonal than most daily conversations. But, since I'm paying him, and he does like to talk, and I think he is genuinely bored with the repetition of his gig, I let him go on and I listen. Because virtually everything he says is interesting and relevant to me anyways.
He doesn't accept insurance providers unless that has changed. So, if you are going to get reimbursed, you will likely have to pay in full, and submit your bill to your insurance provider for any reimbursement. I'm hoping with Aetna, they let me do that, I've been paying out of pocket in full. Because I don't want to deal with more traditional endocrinologists who don't have product, methods, and services I don't like. He treats me like I am a responsible adult who makes responsible decisions with my body, every other endocrinologist acts like a babysitter hiding the remote control to the TV.

I can’t say enough positive things about Dr. Odea. He’s a genius and the best endocrinologist I’ve ever been to! He listens to your story, what you want from HRT, and knows exactly how to deliver what you asked for. I’m so grateful to him because hormones never made me well. I was tired, irritated and too emotional. With the right balance of testosterone and estrogen, I feel better than ever!
