About this clinic
Dr. Cynthia Thaik MD, a functional and integrative-medicine cardiologist in North Hollywood, offers comprehensive cardiovascular care grounded in functional assessment and lifestyle optimization. The practice emphasizes diagnostic workup and individualized treatment planning, integrating nutrition and weight-management protocols alongside conventional cardiology. Hormone replacement therapy is available as part of a whole-body approach to cardiovascular and metabolic health. Rather than relying on pharmacological management alone, the clinic positions cardiovascular care within a broader integrative framework, supporting patients who seek to address underlying metabolic and hormonal factors contributing to heart disease and dysfunction. I seldom write reviews but I feel this one is important. Some of the negative reviews I read before my initial visit were over the top, but I'm smart enough to know--based on experience--that you cannot always trust reviews; so I ignored them. I'm glad I did! Dr. Thaik is warm, friendly and engaging. She's a straight shooter which is how I want a doctor to be. Apparently some people think a Harvard educated medical professional should tell their patients what "they" want to hear because their egos are easily bruised. But that does not serve the patient well health-wise. Dr. Thaik is a no-nonsense doctor who gets to the bottom of your symptoms to better treat your condition. It's easy to merely prescribe medications which do not necessarily treat the root of an illness but instead masks it without trying to work on eliminating it or lessening its effects. Her office is non-assuming--not Beverly Hills luxe to show off her Harvard degree, which some people think represents a physician's stature or puts them in the top-tier of their profession. I went to Dr. Thaik because I was tired of pat answers with no remedy, which is what I find nowadays from the AMA, unfortunately--like out of Stepford, all marching to the same robotic protocol, with no originality, no creativity and little interest to think outside the box, controlled by big Pharma or insurance companies telling doctors "how" to practice.
If you want a different--a better--approach to medicine and want to feel better naturally, or at least want a doctor who will try to pinpoint what is behind your condition, then make an appointment with Dr. Thaik and keep an open mind. Functional Medicine is the best of both worlds, where the East meets the West.

I usually don’t do reviews but in this case I feel compelled. I drove 2 hours there and 2 hours back to do my consultation from out of town.I felt it was time and money well spent based off of what I read about Dr. Thaiks experience with a holistic approach and her background at Harvard.I was looking for a second opinion and some direction based on the condition I already know that I have. I emailed my echo cardio gram to the office and brought with me a current EKG reading as well as a full spectrum of test results. Also a list of everything I currently take to aid in my overall well-being. I was given an EKG and an ICG, which was not covered by insurance at the appointment. I was very excited and hopeful to finally meet with Dr. Thaik. Needless to say I was very underwhelmed. The appointment was rushed and was constantly interrupted by phone calls that she took as well as texting during the time of my appointment with her. I had questions that were left unanswered. I spent maybe 10 minutes talking with her. She basically told me to take the meds my other Dr.s have prescribed and then got up and walked out of the office. She did explain a little about how afib works but I already know this, as I’ve been living with it for 10 years and have done a ton of research. She never looked at the information I provided other than making a comment about 2 supplements that take. I walked out very confused and disappointed. To be honest she seemed more concerned about some dirt that was on her office floor, that she made her front desk person clean than my situation and why I was there. With insurance and cash I spent $580 to be right where I started. It was in fact a complete waste of time and money. I am not writing this to be malicious in any way. Only to bring light to a very unhappy “patient” experience. Throughout the visit it never felt like she was present.

I was so excited to see Dr Cynthia based on what I had read on her website, and she did not disappoint. She has a kind and easy disposition that felt comforting and validating. She gave me the time and space to fully explain how I’ve been feeling and respected my own thoughts and theories about what is going on. I’ve felt very dismissed by doctors in the past, but Dr Cynthia listened to me. We’ve created a treatment plan, and I feel very encouraged for the first time in a long time.

At my first appointment with Dr Thaik, I realized I had found the most caring, knowledgeable cardiologist possible. Her care is superb but it is her depth of feeling for her patients that won me over. I have never had a doctor hold my hand in concern for my thoughts and well being. Stellar human being with stellar cridentials!!!

DO NOT RECOMMEND.
My mother just had a visit with her today and I found Dr. Thaik to be very belittling in her meetings. I understand not to sugar coat but to dismiss my mom as if she’s not aware of her condition was frustrating. It’s almost as if Dr. Thaik already had an impression of my mom and did not want to listen to her. Dr. Thaik kept saying my moms A1C is 9.1 so her sugar is 200 when we tried telling her that her that her A1C isn’t 9.1 it’s her HEMOGLOBIN!!!!! Dr. Thaik was very rude to also cut our session short 30 minutes because she had a flight to catch and said she’s in a rush. This is my mother’s life! I don’t care if you have a plane to catch why even have this appointment slot available if you cannot commit to it as a doctor?!!!!!?!? . I am just so furious at Dr. Thaiks approach. Because even if she didn’t have a treatment plan at least make it sound like you care. My sister my mom and I are all medical health professionals and we never talk to our patients like they’re clueless. She even wrote in her notes that my mom doesn’t know what she’s taking when she does! We stated that taking 40mg of a medication and Dr. Thaik said they don’t come in that dosage and I had to show her a picture but continued to dismiss that she was incorrect. For a holistic doctor I was very shocked by her approach. There was no compassion in her tone what’s so ever & she’s telling us as a second opinion that my mom has 1 year left with out confirmation ? When my moms primary doctors at Kaiser never even mentioned that. . I am requesting a refund or a discount because our consultation wasn’t even 30 minutes. We will NOT refer this doctor to anyone, she showed zero compassion or empathy in her tone. I will posting this review on all social media platforms.
