Was a 10 star when I first start going almost two years ago.. I seen Cristy. She lost compassion and decided it was in MY best interest to NOT be seen for an infection. Since when do Dr's turn down appointments?

I can not recommend doctor Cristy enough. I have lived with chronic health issues for nearly 15 years and she is one of the only doctors I have ever had listen to me. She is a wonderful resource and plan to go to her for many years. I have been going to Plains Medical for about 5 years and have been seeing Cristy for 2. I highly recommend her.

I was referred to Dr. Hoadley Harris by another doctor. I called and made a new patient appointment and asked the fees for an uninsured patient. I was quoted $150. Arrived at my appt was ignored for 20 minutes when I asked if someone was going to assist me. I was told I was not seen there sitting directly in front of the window by two ladies sitting behind it just 10 feet away. When I arrived one was on the phone the other was not and neither acknowledged my presence. The two front office females that were at the window that clearly couldn't be bothered with the patients. I again informed them I was a new patient and didn't have insurance and they asked for $150.00 which I paid. Saw Dr. Harris with a plan for labs to be done a little over 3 weeks later. I arrived at my appointment 3 weeks later and again, I felt like I was a bother. I told them why I was there and they asked for $150 again. This was a follow-up lab test with no need to see the Dr. so I asked them why. Someone else was pulled up (probably an office manager) who had the same demeanor as the other ladies in the front and they proceeded to inform me that not only does this visit cost $150 but I owe $200 from the first visit. WHAT? How does an office during these times start gouging a patients wallet that has no insurance. If I had insurance, it would have cost me $35 copay and the insurance would have paid them $80 (I've got paperwork proving this). I would have not been charged a follow-up visit for the same issue. The reason they gave me was that's how they charge new patients without insurance. They make them pay $150 up front and then charge then $200 when they walk out the door and send them a bill (which I conveniently received that very same day in the mail) then apparently charge you out the 'you know what' once they realize you're paying cash. I wasn't about to pay $350 more for a simple lab test and will not be returning and I recommend you seek out providers who are a bit more caring about not only the patient, but the patients situation. I don't expect free services but I do expect reasonable costs. My chiro prefers me to pay cash instead of going through insurance and I know why. They get more than insurance gives this way and it's less than my copay would have been and the paperwork is minimal saving them time and resources. I'm out $150 and have to start over again with a new doctor and still have the issue I went for the first time. Thanks Plains Medical. Stand up job!
