About this clinic
Kayal Orthopaedic Center, located in Bergen County, New Jersey, offers Laser Therapy (LLLT) alongside conventional orthopaedic surgical and non-surgical care. The practice provides rheumatology services and physical therapy across multiple locations. Laser Therapy is a regenerative modality used to support tissue repair and reduce inflammation in musculoskeletal and joint conditions. Treatment is integrated within a broader orthopaedic framework that includes both procedural and conservative options. Patients seeking regenerative approaches to sports injuries, chronic pain, or post-injury recovery can combine laser therapy with physical rehabilitation and specialist consultation as part of an individualized care plan.
I am a professional ballroom dancer. Dr. Jeff Pope looked me in my eyes, told it to me straight, didn’t waste my time or my money, and I had an excellent experience at Kayal. I would highly recommend this practice and this Dr. specifically. His entire staff spoke of him in the absolute highest regard, and he made a painful shoulder injury literally disappear like magic. It was painless, expedient relief of debilitating pain, and it was magical. The next day I felt like I could jump across the street in a single bound and I danced for eleven hours with a smile on my face.

Originally saw doctor Pope for my trigger finger and lower back issues. He is a great doctor! That only lasted for a short period of time. Now it's constantly his PA's that see his patients and they don't seem interested when you tell them what's going on. Also they are NEVER on time. Today I waited 30 minutes and was never called into the room. I walked out and never going back.

Beware of Excessive Charges and Hidden Costs
While the medical care at Kayal was competent, the billing practices were outrageous and left me feeling completely taken advantage of.
My daughter suffered a simple ankle sprain. We first visited a local urgent care where she received an X-ray, diagnosis, and ankle brace—all for a reasonable $200 total (with my $35 copay included). They suggested a follow-up with an orthopedist, so we chose Kayal.
We brought the original X-rays and brace to the appointment. Despite having everything needed to assess her injury, Kayal insisted on repeating the X-rays and replacing the existing brace with one nearly identical to the original. Their diagnosis was exactly the same: a sprained ankle.
The difference? The bill was over $1,600—including $140 for their brace and hundreds more for redundant imaging. Because of how they billed, they maxed out insurance reimbursement limits from two different companies, leaving me with an additional $165 balance for X-rays alone—on top of what insurance had already paid.
In short, Kayal’s prices were exorbitant, unjustified, and far beyond industry norms for the same services. The experience was a hard lesson in how some medical providers exploit billing systems at patients’ expense.
If you value transparency, fairness, and integrity in healthcare pricing, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere before choosing Kayal.

I am currently in the care of Dr. Pope for my hip labrums. He completed a successful revision surgery on my left hip in June and I've been so pleased with the results. My gripe is with the overall quality of care. As with so many other healthcare conglomerates, you just become a number. I've had 2 subsequent follow up visits after surgery where I had to fork over co-pays only to be met by a nurse? They didn't even conduct any kind of physical review or assessment of my hip or healing progress - all verbal communication. How is their system set up so the doctor who performed your surgery is NOT at your follow up visits? I had to physically request him to be at my 3 month follow up which is insane. Dr. Pope did a great job and I still have to have my right side completed. I'm hesitant to switch to a new practice as I have the confidence in Dr. Pope, but could not, in good conscious, recommend this practice to anyone who values personal, attentive patient care.

Had to drive an hour round trip since this is one of the only locations to do MRIs for kayal and while the staff is very pleasant and nice to deal with the dr who reads these reports does not do a good job. Emad Almusa. Seems like this is phoned in and doesn’t know how to read reports properly.
I was walking around with ankle pain and based on the report thinking this is a partial tear that healed and causing residual pain is in fact a full tendon tear I only recently found out by going to a competent doctor who read the MRI correctly.
Double check with someone if this guy reads your imaging.
