Giving one star because zero is not an option. Nursing staff are kind and understanding; unfortunately, they can’t overcome the organizational problems.
My daughter needs an infusion every 3 months. I learned the first time to call every few days to make sure things were progressing for her to receive treatment. *No* step of the approval process happened without my intervention and pushing. Need more information from the doctor? Confirm that they received your request rather than letting me figure out a week later it never arrived. Submit to both primary and secondary insurance, please! Why do I even have to call back to request that after we gave you all the insurance info?
Fast forward three months to time for the next infusion. An updated dosage was sent from the doctor on 12/2/24. On 12/4 we learned from Palmetto that they needed their Plan of Treatment form completed and had supposedly sent it to the doctor. We gave the doctor’s office a heads-up to please complete the form. On 12/6 the doctor had still not received the form. We downloaded it from Palmetto’s website and sent it ourselves. It was completed and returned that day. On 12/9 my daughter called to check on progress of the dosage change and was assured everything was done and ready for her 12/11 appointment. When she asked that they confirm with the pharmacy she was told no. Upon showing up for the infusion we were told the new dosage had not been processed. I understand things take time. It is the provider’s responsibility to give the patient accurate information and reschedule the appointment if things are not ready. People in Palmetto’s Anderson facility assured her it would be handled ASAP and she could hopefully receive it the next week.
I called the primary insurance company on 12/13 and learned they had never received a request from Palmetto. The insurance representative called Palmetto while I remained on the phone. She spent almost an hour trying to find out what was going on and why the request had not been sent. The insurance representative finally let me know it was being handled and sent immediately and promised an expedited answer. On 12/17, Palmetto had still not submitted a request. After you dropped the ball and promised to fix it, do it!
That day (12/17) we had the doctor send all information to Vital Care Infusion Services of Greenville. Insurance approval was given on 12/19 and the infusion received on 12/23. They have a much more inviting facility and were courteous, caring, and most notably, prompt.
Palmetto, this is unacceptable! Don’t worry. Your overwhelmed administrative staff now has one less patient’s information to handle.

Starting with the staff, they were all amazing and kind and really make you feel comfortable. They care about your comfort and will get you anything you need. They have snacks and drinks as much as you want. They have motorized recliners and complimentary blankets. The facility has one private room and two open sociable rooms. My nurse was Aimee and she was absolutely amazing. She really took the time to make sure I was comfortable and ready for treatment and helped alleviate my fears about the new treatment I was starting.i would recommend this place to everyone.

My husband is a double lung recipient and started his infusions in this facility 2 months ago. Three weeks ago he was driving home from his 2nd infusion and started feeling sick. We we aware of the possible side effects from this infusion, but he felt different from the first one he had there. Two weeks later we received a call from our transplant coordinator telling us my husband was given a double dose during his IVIG infusion. No one called us from Palmetto Infusion once they realized their mistake! No one let us know we should have seen his doctor immediately! We are concerned how many times this has happened without the patient being notified! We are concerned with long term effects to his organs and the new lungs as well!

I had to get a one time infusion, and my doctor decided to give this place a try.
The place was jam packed, no privacy. The room I was in had six chairs, one next to the other. With all the running around it felt like Grand Central. The staff was nice, but obviously rushed because of the large amount of patients. I paid my co-pay (the maximum allowed up to my yearly cap), and they billed my insurance. When I was done with my treatment and had waited the extra 20 minutes or so to make sure I was going to be ok to leave, they neglected to remove the needle for the access. It took an extra half an hour to realize that. I had no idea that they should’ve already done that and this wasn’t the way it was supposed to be, it was my first time.
Upon billing my insurance a whopping $15000, the claim was denied because the appropriate paperwork wasn’t filed. My copay was applied to another patient’s account. The claim was re-filed, and my insurance paid them. My share of the cost was less than half of what it should’ve been, so I called the main office in Columbia. There I was told that they were very displeased that my insurance only paid $580. Really? Now I’m in the battle of reimbursement for the difference in my copay, and return calls from Columbia are already not being made.
If you’re in Anderson, go to AnMed. Friendly people, private area for your infusion, and no ripp offs.

Patient for 3 years with monthly infusions. Issues all the time with billing, scheduling, time to do the infusion. I max out on what I have to pay usually March/April. I always had pay what they said or infusion services was refused. If it was different, I had to provide proof showing my max, then another hour eaten up calling Columbia so they can verify (this should be done prior). Had difficulty getting lab work done. When started I specifically asked about drawing blood as I have a port and it's fine with each infusion. I found out Monday morning 6/1- that it's only drawn as a courtesy. No one ever told me that. Anything that goes wrong or isn't right is the patients fault or their drs- this viewpoint is from top down. My infusions have been messed up several times in the last few months with appts cancelled (they say they call but I have no record of the first time. I did find a missing call for when I was suppose to have infusion last week but no message left and no way for me to know who to call back. This means if they do call/ they are not making an effort to actually communicate an issue. I've tried to mitigate some issues by being proactive but didn't work. Final straw was last week when they CANCELLED my infusion with out telling me due to my dr retired. I already had another dr within the practice that was continuing my care. They didn't bother to call and verify if I had another dr (they were told I had transferred multiple times To the dr I have now. Rheumatology drs - good ones are hard to find. Palmetto recommended a rheumy at Anmed. She was horrible. Wanted to stop lifesaving meds which multiple rheumy have said not to do. She pulled up some record out of my chart from a dr at MUSC I saw for 15 mins and didn't go back to as her evidence. I got a basement full of documentation and medical records. She should have been able to pull up my specialists and primary drs records from NY. She also wanted to run thousands in blood test to rediagnose me. So told her I wouldn't be returning. I have all of the records and evidence to establish my dx. I don't need to reinvent the wheel. Somehow Palmetto had this dr listed and did prior auth under my retired dr. Called my insurance company to check on auth every month from March on because of incident in February where my appt was change and I wasn't told. Given 6 different stories - 1 was that it was always scheduled that day / it wasn't. They tried to call me - they didn't but even if they did why call me? They only call if something is really wrong not for appt reminders. Then changed to I changed it - I didn't . To someone else called and changed. They were going to have me off schedule again by scheduling me the following week on a weds. Due to not being able to schedule yappts or any communication on. It, I eventually started setting Thursdays aside. Then I got switched to Weds without being notified. Then this month it got switched back to Thursday not telling me. My appt last week they said they tried to call the Anmed dr (not my dr of record and was just a consult and she told them she would absolutely not prescribe any meds for me ( hippa anyone??). Wasn't called to check on who dr was (it never changed from current practice), made complaint to mgmt. mgmt - patient blamed me. It was my fault the prior auth was under retired dr? I don't do the pa. Then it was my drs fault. Then it was my fault again and they had to schedule 4300 patients so you get what you get. I see a lot of drs I wait months to see- but have to have infusion too every month. I have currently overpaid again for two infusions. I overpaid last year too. I did get a refund a couple months later. After last week's incidence and because infusion had become extremely stressful and anxiety ridden of the next shoe to drop. I had my drs office push thru the pa on an emergency basis. Went to a different place weds- 360 difference. There are some great nurses and drs there but everything else is ZERO. It was obvious going to new place the difference and shortcuts and $$$ at palmetto.
