Journey Mental Health, a neuromodulation and brain-health clinic in Chattanooga, offers Neurofeedback Therapy as a primary treatment modality. Neurofeedback is a non-pharmacological approach that trains neural regulation through real-time feedback of brain activity, and is used to address attention, mood, and cognitive concerns alongside or as an alternative to conventional psychiatric medication. The clinic provides counseling and mental-health treatment services to patients throughout the region. Treatment plans are individualized following an initial assessment, and the practice positions neurofeedback within a broader mental-health framework rather than as an isolated intervention.
If you are a couple seeking therapy with the intent of staying together I do not recommend this facility. My unmarried partner and I attended two sessions and our therapist, Rachel, stated during our 2nd session we needed to end our relationship and we still had 30 mins left to go of our appointment. When I have brought it to peers or others who have sought counseling I have receieved complete shock that a couples therapist advocated for separation and only after two sessions.
I asked Rachel in the middle of the session why she was doing this and if this was normal and she stated that many of her appointments are people who simply show up and stay for 5 minutes so they can get proof of attending therapy for divorce court. (Exact words)
I would not recommend any couple that is trying to make it work to seek help here but this facility can satisfy signing your form for divorce court if that's all you are needing.

My teenager has only had a couple of sessions with Trey but I have already seen a difference in her. After the first time she met with him, it seemed like a weight was starting to lift off her shoulders. And she said she already loves meeting with him because he's funny and super easy to talk to. In my conversation with him, it felt like he was truly, actively listening to my concerns and he gave great suggestions on how I can help. I'm so excited to have found him for my kiddo, and I can't recommend him enough!

Deciding to try therapy as an adult was a difficult decision to make, especially since costs can be prohibitive. I was quite unnerved with my experience and will not be returning for a few reasons.
- They don't take insurance.
- The receptionist asked few questions and casually assigned a couple of therapist options for me before understanding what would make a good fit. They did not seem to care whether or not I was a client after I canceled future appointments.
- My intake appointment was very emotionally difficult (necessarily, I understand, in order to describe issues), but I was met with the most superficial sympathy and not given any resources or time to wind down to a functional level before being ushered out (just under the full hour and repeated confirmations of having payment methods available). The scheduling around the holidays was not planned very well either, with a large vacation gap between intake and the next available session.
I understand that this can be therapist-contingent, but my experience overall was not worth recommending. It felt gross and transactional, particularly when therapy involves intense personal vulnerability.

I’ve tried many therapists, psychiatrists, and psychologists and now have seem to have found a comfortable safe space at Journey for the last 4 months. They don’t take insurance, but the reason for that is because the quality of the therapists is such that they don’t deserve to work for reduced rates that insurance companies offer. I’m thankfully in a position where that financially is ok for me. I feel like the money I spend here is one of the best investments in myself I’ve ever made. Also if you don’t click with the therapist assigned they can assign you to someone else. I clicked with mine off the bat but I know this is their practice.

My husband and I both used their online intake form and were assigned therapists were extremely good fits for our very different needs.
