Long COVID Treatment
Long COVID, a term used interchangeably with post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2, refers to the constellation of signs and symptoms that present weeks to months following initial illness. Symptoms can include the lungs, heart, nervous system, immune system, hormones, metabolism, and gastrointestinal tract. The effects can be nonspecific and include but are not limited to fatigue, dyspnea, neurocognitive difficulties, joint and muscle pain, palpitations, lightheadedness, gastrointestinal symptoms, sleep disturbances, changes in sensory capabilities, and decreased exercise tolerance.
The concept of regeneration would entail treatment to reverse injury to viral-exposed systems, reduce inflammation, restore cellular energetics, rebalance the immune response, and support recovery of the whole body.
