New England Stem Cell Institute

Dr. Tortlund performed my rotator cuff PRP stem cell procedure, and the entire staff—along with Dr. T—has been absolutely awesome to work with. The facility is very clean, and the team was extremely clear about what to expect at each step of the process, which made a big difference. While I don’t hope to need another procedure like this, if I ever do, I wouldn’t hesitate to return here. I also know I won’t be nearly as anxious as I was going into this one. Thank you for a great experience so far—I’m looking forward to continuing my journey towards a full recovery over the next 10 plus months!!

I experienced a fully torn abductor tendon in my hip. Because it wasn't properly diagnosed for a long time, my glute muscle atrophied and I became unable to extend that leg. I eventually had surgery with a graft to repair the tendon. Unfortunately, my tendon never regenerated after being reattached and I was still unable to extend that leg or walk without a cane. The surgeon recommended that I have a more involved surgery with a 6 to 12 month recovery period. I did not see that as a good option. I started researching other options and found New England Stem Cell Institute. After seeing Dr. Dewald, I had a stem cell treatment. Within 4 weeks I started seeing improvement in my range of motion and it steadily increased. I had PT and, for the first time, actually benefitted from it. The stem cell treatment apparently kick started my recovery. After completing PT, my range of motion and glute and hip strength are extremely good. I am able to walk normally without a cane and have returned to my normal activities. This has been like a miracle after being unable to properly walk for eight months. I am so glad that I contacted New England Stem Cell Institute rather than have the additional surgery that the surgeon recommended. I am very grateful to Dr Dewald and the entire staff for helping me return to a normal life.

My experience with New England stem cell institute in general is a very positive one as I feel Dr.Tortland is highly qualified and continues to keep me well informed of how and why these procedures work as welI as providing great personal attention to his patients. I have recommended him to several people. My only regret with having the stem cell treatment is in the cost of the maintenance required annually which seems to be increasing at a very high rate over a very short period of time.
