The Center

I am writing this review with tears in my eyes and a full heart, because this place truly saved my life. I arrived at the Center broken, a patient trapped in a relentless cycle of fight-or-flight. My long journey through Brooke Glenn, Tapestry, and the Light program had provided tools for survival, but after my insurance cut off intense treatment, I was left to merely survive, not to heal. The system called it "good enough," a cold, clinical term for a life still dominated by self-harm, an eating disorder, and the shadows of past abuse. I was not just surviving; I was panicking. So I turned to a book that had been a guidepost in my earlier therapy: The Body Keeps the Score. It was through these pages that I first encountered the transformative power of biofeedback. That's when I found the Center, a place that didn't just offer another therapy, but a new way of being. The team—Dr. Flannigan, Dr. Rushlau, Dr. Van Doren, Dr. Boward, and the incredible biofeedback technicians Kristen, Nicole, and Tyler—didn't just treat my complex PTSD; they rebuilt me. They helped me understand how my past had shaped every part of my life, retraining my brain and body to find a new, peaceful equilibrium. The chronic cortisol pumping through my veins for 20-plus years finally subsided. The endless flashbacks and night terrors vanished. The tension in my jaw, neck, and back melted away. Even my sleep, once a tight, defensive curl, is now deep and restful. My concentration, once shattered by ADHD, is now sharp and clear. I can focus, retain information, and, when activated, I can find my way back to calm ground. The panic attacks are gone. The constant irritability and aggression have faded. For the first time, my emotions feel like my own to control, not a chaotic force controlling me. The Center also provided concussion protocol training that freed me from the relentless grip of post-concussion syndrome. My chronic migraines and extreme light and sound sensitivity are now almost non-existent. I can now do simple things that used to be impossible, like go to the dentist or ride a rollercoaster. I still have work to do with Dr. Rushlau, but my life is better than I ever dreamed possible. I am no longer disabled. I am pursuing a job and, for the first time in my life, I can say I am truly proud of myself. The cycle of intergenerational trauma is broken. By reparenting myself, I have become the great mom my children deserve. The light has returned, and I am free. Thank you, Center, from the bottom of my healed heart. Your impact on my life is immeasurable.

Our family has received excellent treatment from the technicians and psychologists in the office. Dr. Van Doren, while very experienced and knowledgeable, can come off quite abrasive in conversation. I don’t feel that this is the best approach, especially when speaking with children and young adolescents. Overall, we are glad to be working with this talented team that is helping our kids to become the best versions of themselves.

I feel very grateful to have received treatment at The Center. I have been a client for over a year. The neurofeedback was adapted based on my presenting symptoms, making it feel very individualized. The clinicians are skilled and helped me through a very difficult time, and the techs are very professional and helpful.
