I was told financial assistance would help me with paying for the hospital bill, just for them to make me wait 4 months to be told they only take a little bit off. The monthly payments are crushing me, and they said they don’t care. I regret going to the program here because it didn’t help and now I’m a medical bill slave for the hospital for the next two years of my life. Any department I call tells me it’s not their problem. Now I’m even more depressed and anxious than ever before. This place is a trap to make you lose all your money and end up even more hopeless than before. Mental health is a scam and there is in fact no hope for the future. I’m never going to be able to stop drinking now. I’m so sad and depressed and now I can’t get any help without going into severe debt. Care New England, and the scam artists at butler hospital, have now made my life worse instead of helping me. For 4 long months I SUFFERED, unable to access and afford help while waiting for the stupid financial aid application that they lost FOUR TIMES!!! I suffered in agony waiting to see if I was approved just for them to only take off 40 percent. I still have to pay them $193 a month, on top of other medical bills and college loans for the next two years. I guarantee they won’t contact me about this review, because hospitals are horrible places that steal your money. In honor of butler hospital, I’m going to drink every day for the rest of my life, and never access mental health care ever again. I will suffer and suffer until my life falls apart and it’s all the hospitals fault.

My therapist was very judgmental, condescending, and cold. Not about everything. But whenever I told her I felt lonely she would ridicule me for "feeling sorry" for myself. She also had a chip on her shoulder against Native Americans. As soon as I brought up my trauma as a Native American she said some really disrespectful stuff... Matter of fact, as soon as I said "as a Native American" she cut me off and told me that I was playing the Native American victim card (yeah, she actually said that...) She went on to completely dismiss my trauma by saying "oh, well everyone has pain" as if I was born yesterday. She kept talking over me and made everything about her. She even had the audacity to accuse me of thinking that I had more trauma than her but I never even said anything about her experience. She kept bringing up that she was French Canadian as if it's remotely comparable to what happened to the Native Americans... She never even apologized, just said that I took it "too personally." That WAS personal. Very personal. As soon as she disrespected my ancestors like that she CROSSED THE LINE. You don't disrespect someone else's heritage and you don't dismiss someone's lived experience because you think something you read makes you some "expert". It's arrogant. By the way miss, Native Americans have survived one of the biggest genocides and crimes against humanities in the history of this planet. Unlike the French Canadians (you brought that up, not me) their homeland was stolen and the few survivors left were enslaved or thrown on reservations because colonization was RACIAL so the next time you try to tell me how to feel about MY trauma why don't you take a good look around you and check your privilege...

You are nothing to these people, just a check. I was referred here by my doctor and assured on multiple levels (my doctor, the psychiatrist and multiple people at the front desk) my insurance would cover 3 months of therapy. Well Guess who paid $145 for the therapist and $270 for a facility fee. So a grand total of $415 for each visit and an extra $100 for rescheduling and talking to someone to figure out what was happening.
They just kept pushing me back with their fake sympathy as they offered payment plans, it wasn't their fault! Oh, but it also wasn't insurances fault either. Congrats Butler, I came in with anxiety and panic attacks, and all I got in return was medical dept and somehow even worse anxiety and existential dread.

Sadly, this is the only adult mental health hospital in the state. My loved one is severely mental ill but they will not admit because of a physical health problem as well. They used to have skilled nurses but I guess they do not anymore. Hard to believe this hospital is part of Kent County Hospital and they do not have a nurse. Besides, they always say they never have a bed available. I don't believe them!
