I was at Lindley house for nearly 8 months. The staff was wonderful and the food was really good. The program keeps a person busy. Lindley is an all female house and it offers a beautiful place to stay. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Veteran's day, birthdays, etc were celebrated with special meals and gifts. They try to make you feel at home and as part of a family. We went on outings to the zoo, the movies, the wax museum, and we had a meal out once a week, which was a great deal of fun. I was treated with kindness and respect all the time I was there and all my needs were provided for. I learned a lot and have been doing very well since my stay there. Thank you Sydney, Stephanie, Dr. D., Jewels, Ms. Kelli, Lynn, and all the people that made healing possible.

If you’re reading this, you’re probably looking at Montare Behavioral Health for yourself or someone you love. Take a deep breath — you’ve found the right place to heal.
I arrived at Lindley a shell of the person I once was. I sat in the car and cried, unsure if I could go through with it. But when I looked up and saw the staff already waiting in the driveway, I knew it was time. As I walked up, they said, “Welcome, Carrie.” That moment changed everything — it was the first time in years I felt truly safe.
Lindley is a beautiful home in a peaceful neighborhood, housing only six women at a time. There’s space to connect, and space to retreat. The staff doesn’t just do their jobs — they show up for you. Whether it’s a late-night talk or your favorite snack written on the whiteboard, they go out of their way to make you feel supported. And Chef Steph? She feeds not just your body, but your soul.
To get the most out of Montare, you have to trust the process. The group sessions are unlike anything I’ve experienced — and I’ve done many CBT, DBT, and ACT programs before. But something clicked here. You learn through real conversations and peer connection. Each facilitator — Salli, Dina, Dr. Pearlman, Gracen, Shantel, Monica — brings their own powerful style. Attend them all if you can.
Montare also offers multiple one-on-one therapy sessions a week, including EMDR, somatic therapy, and even hypnotherapy with the incredible Marylou. (Don’t worry — she won’t have you clucking like a chicken. She guides you toward deep healing.) With my therapist Tara, I experienced life-changing breakthroughs through somatic therapy, especially around grief I’d carried for 15 years. It was the hardest — and most transformative — work I’ve ever done.
Your body heals too. Jovana leads energizing fitness sessions, and Julia (“Jules”) offers yoga and Sound Bath with a calming presence that’s healing on its own. She adapts every movement to meet you exactly where you are. Her Sound Baths are deeply grounding and uplifting.
Equine therapy, set in the stunning Malibu canyons, was unexpectedly profound. You’ll work with four horses — Sophie, Cash, Frankie, and Abe — who seem to understand more than you expect. On my final day, all four approached me. It felt like they knew I was leaving and came to say goodbye. It was one of the most emotional, beautiful moments of my time there.
None of this would be possible without the people who keep the house running with heart and grace. Danielle, the Program Manager, is a steady, compassionate presence. Cassie leads the house with consistency and care. Nitu, the Case Manager, is your go-to for everything from insurance to EDD — she helps you build a plan for life after Lindley. Lynne, runs alumni groups and events to assure you are always apart of the Montare Family, And then there’s the rest of the team: Liz, Gisele, Wendy, Veronica, Valentina, Kyia, Misch, Daisy, Billie, Skyler, Mele, Kejuana, and Byanca. Every one of them leads with heart. Their compassion is deep, their care constant, and their presence grounding.
Leaving Lindley wasn’t easy — this house, this program, and these people became part of my healing in ways I never imagined. I arrived broken and overwhelmed, unsure if I’d ever find my way back to myself. But day by day, piece by piece, Lindley helped me rebuild. If you’re wondering if this is the right place for you or someone you love, I can only say this: yes. Come as you are — scared, guarded, uncertain — and let this team help carry you until you remember how to carry yourself again. Healing is possible here. I know because I found it.
