23 Years ago he performed my knee surgery (patella realignment and medial Ligament realignment). I had many pre and post surgery appointments with him. He treated me so poorly. He was rude, entitled, mean, angry, and just generally miserable. I remember looking him up 10 years ago and all his reviews were bad. I'm suspicious of his great ratings now but maybe he has changed. The reason i waited decades to leave a review is i was just telling somebody about my worst experience with a doctor and it reminded me how terrible he was.

Dr. Ryu is a terrific surgeon. He has performed two shoulder surgeries on me, and has helped other members of my family with their injuries. Dr. Ryu will tell you what is needed to return you to health. Some may feel like he is quick to diagnose, but I believe that is because he has seen these injuries thousands of times. During my recovery, I actually looked forward to my follow up appointments to check my progress and get the next set of challenges to get back to normalcy. Dr. Ryu and staff take their jobs very seriously, as I expect any top medical group would be, and I know they always had my best interest in mind. If you want to be coddled, see someone else. If you can handle being told how it is, and what needs to be done then Dr. Ryu would be your best choice.

Dr.Ryu seems to be a good surgeon but his staff is incompetent and treated me very poorly and disrespectful. They refuse to answer or return my calls, They act as though they are in charge of my recovery and refused to extend my disability benefits causing me much stress, worry and anxiety. I tore my ACL and Meniscus. Dr. Ryu reattached the ACL, but did not do anything for the meniscus. I guess he thought it would heal on its own. Surgery went well but I was told by Dr.Ryu to stop doing PT after they were doing the wrong treatment for the type of ACL reattachment surgery. Months later I was told that I could continue PT. My knee is still very weak after 6 months and I’m having severe pain in the meniscus area. I’m an electrician by trade and there is no way I can return to work at this time yet his staff is acting like I should be healed and I’m unable to get an appointment with Dr.Ryu until weeks after my disability ends since they won’t extend it again. It’s been a horrible experience dealing with his assistant and secretaries. I’m not sure if they have something against me personally or if they just treat blue collar patients like nothing compared to their pro athlete clients. The past few months have been a nightmare. It’s a shame that they can get away with being so negligent and seemingly personally vindictive towards a patient in recovery.
