Dr. Dave’s protocols saved my shoulder!!! (and my sanity:) in under 3 weeks - after more than 3 months of injury - that had left my shoulder largely immobile and useless. Here is my story:
In July 2025 I had suffered a devastating shoulder injury due to overuse and poor technique AND continued swimming until mid-August at which point my shoulder was completely out of commission - even driving & getting dressed became unmanageable. I had sought both chiropractic care & GP support with little-to-no improvement.
Oct 2025 was recommended to Atlanta Sports Recovery by no fewer than 3 teammates. Oct 21 - I began working with Dr. Dave on a weekly basis, with a WILD goal of competing in an All-Stars swim competition in Ft. Lauderdale just 2.5 weeks later.
I trusted the plan and completed my homework religiously - by the end of week 1 we had significant progress!!! and the wins just kept coming! After 3 months of injury stagnation this was HUGE!!!
We continued with weekly PT sessions & homework exercises. To my absolute surprise and amazement on Nov 8th, after just 3 sessions, I managed to swim all 6 of my events at my All-Stars meet! Incredibly, i even managed a Personal Best time in my freestyle! I placed 1st in 2 events and 2nd in another! Mind you, this is after 3 months of no practice due to injury!
I made sure to take my PT bands with me to the meet & i completed my exercises between each race to help support my shoulder and maintain alignment! Other than some mild soreness, i sustained no further damage or injury!
This rapid healing and success is 100% credited to Dr. Dave’s expert support and guidance! I’m beyond impressed with how quickly the protocols enabled me to recover!
1 would 1000% recommend Dr. Dave to anyone & everyone over & over & over again. i now talk about my experience at ASR any chance i get and i look forward to my maintenance appointments!
thank you endlessly! & Cheers!

I went back and forth about leaving this review because I understand how important they are,
especially for a small business. However, I also think it’s important to share my experience in hopes that it helps someone avoid further physical injury or make a more informed decision.
I initially came in for treatment of a low back disc herniation and felt optimistic that the 1:1 sessions would improve my condition compared to a traditional PT setting where therapists split their time. My first few sessions went well. Although I felt fatigued from the number of prescribed exercises, I trusted the process and stayed consistent.
After about my third session, I let the therapist know that I felt my program included too many exercises and asked if we could scale it back, as my back kept locking up after completing the programming. During each 30-minute session, the PT also asked if I wanted to try dry needling. I declined several times because I had a negative experience with dry needling in the past. During one of my last sessions, I was asked again and, against my better judgment and gut instinct, I agreed to try it.
Less than 24 hours later after the dry needling, during one of my prescribed movements, I experienced a sudden, sharp shooting pain down my entire left side unlike anything I had ever felt. Fast forward to now, almost a month later and I have been through an incredibly difficult recovery from severe nerve irritation that caused a substantial regression in my healing. Only within the last week have I been able to walk again without pain and for more than a few steps. The experience has been completely life-altering, I’ve had to cancel numerous trips and something I truly hope no one else has to go through.
Feedback:
I believe there are some opportunities here that could help improve patient safety and outcomes. When a patient expresses that a program feels too aggressive or that their body is not responding well, I think it’s critical that those concerns are taken seriously and adjustments are made more conservatively. Additionally, when a patient repeatedly declines a treatment such as dry needling, it may be helpful to avoid revisiting it unless the patient initiates interest. Some patients may feel subtle pressure to agree even when they are hesitant.
I also think clearer communication around risks, especially for patients already dealing with disc herniations would be beneficial so patients can make fully informed decisions. A more collaborative and cautious approach when a patient reports increased locking, pain, or fatigue could potentially prevent setbacks like the one I experienced.
I genuinely believe most providers want to help their patients heal, and I hope this feedback is taken in that spirit. My intention is simply to share my experience so that future patients can have the safest and most supportive recovery possible.

I can’t say enough about Johnny and his team. As I have eclipsed 50 years old and still try to maintain the level of athleticism I seek while fighting my body, I can’t imagine doing it without their support. They have all of the expertise and tools that are needed to help accelerate my healing and keep my mobility at a high level. 🏆💪🤘

To say that I recommend ASR is an understatement. Johnny and his team have helped me in so many ways! I am a person who lives with MS, a chronic neurodegenerative disease that makes walking, balance, and even standing extremely difficult. I was referred to Johnny two years ago and have been working with him weekly since. His patience, knowledge, and expertise in is field have yielded me direct results which I can see every day. I can say that I am stronger and my endurance his increased from my initial evaluation - more than I could have hoped. For context, I was diagnosed in 2007, and am still able to walk without the need of assistive devices on a daily basis. However, the disease had began to progress at a faster rate and I knew I needed additional help (alongside my pharma treatment) to fight against a looming reality of decreased mobility. After working with Johnny, I am beyond thrilled to say I can walk over a mile, something that I wasn't able to do 2 years ago! The Atlanta Sports Recovery team are extremely knowledgeable, patient, compassionate, and so very helpful!! They are amazing!

After dealing with and grumbling through ongoing back issues for far too long, a referral to Johnny at ASR has been (without exaggeration) life-changing. Johnny has been able to identify the root cause(s) of my issue(s) and provides ongoing guidance and targeted rehab exercises to help expedite the healing process. He has a wealth of knowledge, and I always trust him without question to get me back on track!
