The Painless Center

I am a patient of Dr. Chui at the Painless Center in Englewood NJ. He has greatly helped me with my back issues. The last several visits I have been seen by Nurse Practitioner Blessy. I am writing this review because her knowledge, care and compassion is outstanding! The office is run correctly and the team there are warm and create a calm happy atmosphere! I do not remember all their names except Stephanie! Sorry for that but they all rock! Thank you all for your great help.

I had a very disappointing experience with Painless Medical Center. I filled out an inquiry form on Facebook, and one of their staff members called me to discuss my issue and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at 5:00 PM. During that call, I provided my insurance information. The staff member placed me on hold, verified my details, and clearly confirmed that they were in-network and accepted my insurance. She schdeuled me with Jason Chiu, MD. Based on that confirmation, I traveled from Trenton to Clifton, which took over 2 hours (2:15) to reach the clinic. When I arrived, the front desk staff told me that I was not scheduled in their system, though she said she could still see me and asked me to fill out new paperwork. After completing the forms, I gave her my ID and insurance card and asked again to confirm whether they were in-network. At that point, she told me they do NOT accept my insurance. I was shocked and extremely frustrated, especially after the prior confirmation and long travel time. I even showed her my appointment confirmation email, but all I received was an apology. This situation was completely avoidable and shows poor communication and lack of verification on their end. My time was wasted, and I will not return to this clinic nor recommend it to anyone in my circle. Very unprofessional experience.

Staff is courteous and friendly. They call one day in advance of scheduled appointments and greet you when you arrive. Dr.Mazzo and MP Maris have been treating my arthritis and giving advise on ways to alleviate the condition with some success, but was advised to have surgery, which I do not want.

Excellent staff. The procedure was a piece of cake, very smooth. And my pain was gone the next day. No pain Great job Dr Chiu.

It was very sadly a horrible experience and we wound up leaving without being seen. They showed a complete lack of compassion and empathy toward my 95-year-old mother, who is wheelchair-bound. Upon arriving, we were immediately scolded for being late, despite the circumstances. We checked in about 20 minutes after our appointment time due to traffic and the difficulty of getting my mother safely out of the car and into the building. Unfortunately, calling ahead was not possible while I was driving and assisting her. To make matters more difficult, the ground floor turned out to be the wrong location, so we then had to navigate to the basement office by elevator. Once there, my mother was handed a large stack of paperwork to complete. The consultant who was not even a doctor instructed the receptionist to take the next patient because “that’s how it works here when people are late.” No one communicated this to us directly for 45 minutes. Then the receptionist informed us that another appointment was starting in 15 minutes, would last 45 minutes, and that we would not be seen until afterward. Ironically, that patient also did not arrive on time, but I was told they allow a 15-minute grace period. I pointed out that we arrived very close to that window, but was told that because my mother finished paperwork later, we were considered 30 minutes late. Not a single person there showed any understanding or concern for the challenges of bringing a 95-year-old wheelchair patient to an appointment. My mother was the only patient there in a wheelchair, yet the staff could not have cared less. This is absolutely not how a new patient should be treated. We visited the Tenafly office, but after researching further, I learned the same evaluator works across all their locations. Compassion and empathy are essential qualities in healthcare, and sadly, those qualities were completely absent here.
