Dr. Shakiba is truly one of the first doctors who genuinely listened to my symptoms without brushing me off or rushing the appointment. From the very beginning, he made me feel heard, validated, and taken seriously — which is something I hadn’t experienced before.
I was able to get an early appointment, and from start to finish, the experience was seamless. Dr. Shakiba is incredibly patient, kind, and thorough. He takes the time to explain things clearly, answers questions thoughtfully, and never makes you feel like just another patient on the schedule.
What truly sets Dr. Shakiba apart is that he is the only doctor who was able to properly diagnose me, create a clear plan, and actively help me move forward. Instead of uncertainty or vague answers, he provided direction, guidance, and a thoughtful treatment approach that finally made sense.
The front desk staff is equally wonderful — helpful, responsive, and welcoming. They are very upfront about costs and billing, which I truly appreciate. There were no surprises, and everything was communicated clearly.
Since seeing Dr. Shakiba and starting treatment, I have felt a significant improvement in how I feel overall. I finally feel like I’m on the right track with my health, and I’m incredibly grateful to have found a doctor who genuinely cares and takes the time to provide thoughtful, effective care.

After a long and difficult journey trying to find the right surgeon and the right team, I can say without hesitation that Dr. Gabriella Pinho and Dr. Khashayar Shakiba exceeded every expectation.
From the very first visit, I felt heard, respected, and truly cared for. My case was complex, and for a long time I struggled to find providers who took both the medical and human side of my situation seriously. Dr. Pinho’s surgical skill, calm confidence, and compassion were evident at every step. Dr. Shakiba’s oversight, kindness, and attentiveness made me feel safe and supported throughout the entire process.What stood out most was that they didn’t just treat a condition — they treated me. They took the time to explain things clearly, addressed concerns I didn’t even realize were treatable (including bladder and incontinence-related issues), and gave me hope that my quality of life could truly improve. I honestly did not know some of these issues could be fixed until working with this team.
I also want to recognize Joannie, the coordinator, whose responsiveness, organization, and reassurance made navigating appointments and paperwork so much easier during a stressful time. And Katherine, whose empathy, patience, and prompt communication made a huge difference when I needed supportshe treated me like a person, not a chart.
In a healthcare system where it can be incredibly hard to find providers who combine technical excellence with genuine compassion, this team stands out. I am deeply grateful for the care I received and would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Pinho, Dr. Shakiba, and their entire team to anyone seeking expert surgical care with empathy, respect, and professionalism.

After a long search for a specialist in pelvic pain, I can confidently say that Dr. Shakiba is an expert in treating complex pelvic pain. I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone experiencing pelvic floor pain, endometriosis, or pain associated with sitting. His depth of knowledge, specialized training, and compassionate approach truly set him apart.
Dr. Shakiba is the primary physician overseeing care and is highly skilled in advanced procedures, including robotic surgery. He is among the few physicians with this level of expertise specifically focused on pelvic pain. His treatment recommendations, including a compounded medication, were very helpful, and many patients may not realize this option exists. He also explained how this type of medication can be considered as part of post-surgical care when appropriate. My recovery is progressing well under his care.
I would also like to acknowledge Dr. Pinho, who worked alongside Dr. Shakiba and contributed to my care with professionalism and expertise.
It’s IMPORTANT for patients to understand that not all gynecologists or urogynecologists specialize in pelvic pain. While many physicians work within the pelvic region, true pelvic pain expertise requires focused training and experience, which Dr. Shakiba clearly has.
Finally, I want to recognize Joannie for her professionalism, attentiveness, and compassion. She took the time to address my concerns and reassured me that Dr. Shakiba specialized in the type of pelvic pain I was experiencing.

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for Dr. Shakiba, who recently performed surgery on me to address significant uterine prolapse. My experience with him has been nothing short of exceptional.
From our very first consultation, Dr. Shakiba took the time to listen carefully to my concerns. He made me feel heard and understood, which was incredibly comforting during such a stressful time. His compassionate care shone through as he addressed my fears about the surgery and its outcome. I was particularly anxious due to my previous diagnosis of Pyoderma Gangrenosum, which took a full year to heal. Dr, Shakiba acknowledged my concerns with empathy and kindness. One of the most remarkable aspects of Dr. Shakiba’s care was his commitment to inclusivity. He took my concerns about my previous condition seriously and consulted with the dermatologist/oncologist who had successfully treated me. By including her in my post-surgical care and evaluation plan, he ensured that I receive comprehensive care tailored to my needs.
His extensive knowledge in the field was evident. He explained the procedure thoroughly and answered all my questions, which helped alleviate my fears. Dr. Shakiba has treated me with the utmost respect throughout the entire process. He values my opinions and makes me feel like an active participant in my own care.
His surgical skills are impressive. I felt confident in his abilities, knowing that I was in the hands of a highly skilled surgeon. The outcome of my surgery has exceeded my expectations.
His office staff are professional, caring and willing to go the extra mile to accommodate and cater to your needs. One example is the Surgical Coordinator, Ms. Joannie Rivera. She is very knowledgeable, courteous and diligent in answering any questions or concerns one may have.
I cannot recommend Dr. Shakiba highly enough. His blend of empathy, compassion, skill, respect, knowledge, and inclusivity made a significant difference in my surgical experience. Had an absolutely wonderful experience! I am a trans person and they were incredibly friendly and accepting!
After years of dealing with undiagnosed Endometriosis, including going to OBGYNs and Urologists with no answers over the years, the doctors and the nurses at Women’s Pelvic Surgery apon me telling them my symptoms told me that I most likely had Endometriosis, and so during my hysterectomy, they would be looking for it and would remove it if they spotted it.
When I had my hysterectomy, they confirmed that I had Endometriosis severely and removed it during surgery. I received a total hysterectomy and had my tubes removed as well as had the endometriosis removed/ treated and my nerves decompressed as well.
This has helped my pain immensely and has removed the fear of ever getting a period again, especially as all of my periods had been incredibly painful and I no longer wanted to be on testosterone or depo or progesterone ever again. I am now able to live free of periods, free of endo, and free from needing hormones!
Thank you so much to the wonderful nurses, staff, receptionists, surgical coordinators especially Joannie who was a huge help in communication as well as helping me with all of my paperwork needed for medical leave for work, and to the amazing and caring doctors Dr. Shakiba and Dr. Pinho!
