The Foundation for NIBD gave us hope when we felt hopeless—and completely changed my son’s life. When my son James was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at just 18 months old, it was one of the scariest times of our lives. His inflammation was severe—his Calprotectin levels were over 3,000—and for three years, we fought an uphill battle with no real progress. Then we found The Foundation for NIBD, Lenore Shapiro, and Dr. Melvyn Grovit. They stepped in during our darkest hour and taught us how to nourish our son properly, how to advocate for his care, and most importantly, gave us hope when we felt hopeless. Their anti-inflammatory protocol changed everything. Today, for the first time in three years, James’ Calprotectin test came back NORMAL—just 23! He is now in remission and completely off medication. This journey was not easy, and it’s not one-size-fits-all. Some kids absolutely need stronger interventions, and thank God those treatments exist. But what we learned from Dr. G can support and enhance those treatments, too. It’s about building the right team and doing everything you can for your child’s health. If you or a loved one is struggling with an inflammatory condition, PLEASE reach out to this organization. Most people rely solely on doctors for everything, including nutrition—but the truth is, most doctors receive less than 20 hours of nutrition training in medical school. They are incredible at ordering tests and performing surgeries, but they are not equipped to teach you how to fight inflammation or advocate in a system that often resists anything outside the box. The Foundation for NIBD didn’t just teach us a protocol—they gave us tools, confidence, and hope. To Lenore, Dr. G, and the entire team: you didn’t just change James’ life—you gave us our son back. We will be forever grateful.

Dr G and Lenore walked me through a medical issue related to my immunology. They were supportive and extremely helpful in my healing journey. My numbers have increased dramatically and my immunologist said “I have not seen anyone rebound they way you have” Thank you

For the past 5 years I have seen countless gastroenterologists and endured many invasive tests in an attempt to figure out, and resolve, my chronic constipation. In 2020 one of the gastroenterologists suggested I have my colon removed. Some of these doctors gave up, while some refused to try to help me. After taking a plethora of prescription medications along with increasing amounts of Miralax without relief, I was nearing the end of my rope. I was ready to throw in the proverbial towel, when a friend introduced me to Melvyn Grovit, DPM, MS, CNS and Lenore Shapiro, a founder of the Foundation for NIDB in Kids. Dr. Grovit, along with Lenore, tailored a treatment plan specifically for me. I followed this plan and, for the first time in many years, I’m finally achieving relief from my chronic constipation. Thank you, doesn’t seem adequate for this dynamic, knowledgeable and caring duo who are changing lives every day. God bless you! Wendy R. Levine
