The Foundation for NIBD gave us hope when we felt hopeless—and completely changed my son’s life. When my son James was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at just 18 months old, it was one of the scariest times of our lives. For the past 5 years I have seen countless gastroenterologists and endured many invasive tests in an attempt to figure out, and resolve, my chronic constipation. In 2020 one of the gastroenterologists suggested I have my colon removed. Some of these doctors gave up, while some refused to try to help me. After taking a plethora of prescription medications along with increasing amounts of Miralax without relief, I was nearing the end of my rope.
