I am 72 years old, have always been active, but during the summer I began to have some severe pain from my hips, causing me to stop nearly all my activities. I started out with trying physical therapy which only helped a little. In late summer, the pain and dysfunction got even worse. My physical therapist recommended that I speak with Dr. Verma at Essential Sports & Spine Solutions. Dr. Verma recommended I get an MRI which revealed I had a torn labrum which explained the severe hip joint pain I was experiencing, but not all the pain I had stemmed from that condition. I also had arthritis in my SI joint along with tendinosis, both of which were connected to the non-joint pain I was experiencing. Dr. Verma suggested either the PRP or Lipoaspirate (Adipose-Derived Therapy) as an approach to resolve the labrum pain in the hip joint. I dove into research on both treatments and based on NIH articles, I felt the Lipoaspirate would be the better choice for me. I did hold on the decision until I researched all my options. During this period, I met with several orthopedic surgeons as well to assess which direction made the most sense for me. 'Traditional' medicine would tell you to just have a hip replacement; however, that would only address the pain in the joint and is frankly a huge step to take if there are other treatments. The ortho specialists were very dismissive of my concerns that the hip replacement was an extreme step. I finally made my decision and proceeded with the Lipoaspirate therapy at Essential Sports & Spine Solutions in mid-December. During that period between late summer and December, I went with chiropractic manipulation for the SI joint issue, while continuing to strengthen muscles in physical therapy to resolve the tendinosis problem, since the pain stemming from those two conditions would remain whether I had a hip replacement or had the Lipoaspirate therapy. The bottom line is that the results from the Lipoaspirate procedure were wildly successful, particularly when combined with the chiropractic and physical therapies. Throughout 2025 I could not walk without a cane and my walking range was extremely limited. After the Lipoaspirate therapy in mid-December (combined with physical and chiropractic therapies along with Dr. Verma's MLS Laser therapy), in mid-January 2026, I was able to go on a vacation that involved hiking 3-5 miles each day for a week, with only the tendinosis being a slight problem. Keep in mind that tendinosis would have not been resolved whether I had gone with hip replacement or the Lipoaspirate therapy. The 'grinding' pain that was like a constant toothache in my hip joint and stemmed from the torn labrum condition was 100% gone. Note that the orthopedic surgeons wanted to completely replace my hip joint to resolve these labrum issues. The remaining SI joint and tendinosis problems are manageable through physical therapy and chiropractic care. I am extremely happy that I chose this treatment approach. I am back to doing everything I could do before. What remains to be handled is simply strengthening of the muscles that atrophied during that period of extreme pain I had experienced. Thank you, Dr. Verma, for providing treatment options that worked so well for me. I cannot recommend your office enough.
