Update: This office called me back the very next day after this post. The patient liaison apologized for the events described below and reimbursed me for the cost of the visit. She also said the group would not charge my insurance company for the appointment. What an unexpected and favorable outcome to this ordeal!
Fondren Orthopedic Group’s response to this event is highly commendable, and I’d like to thank them for their attention to this matter. It is clear to me that they run a very responsive medical practice worthy of respect.

I made the appointment for my visit today, 6/10/25, in March. I had to wait until June because it was a first visit to establish myself as a new patient, I was told. I have new insurance, so after carefully reading reviews and researching this doctor I knew she would be worth the wait, so it was no problem. On Friday, May 29, an office representative called me to tell me I would be the last patient she saw “before her vacation return in August,” and asked me if I wanted to reschedule the visit. I explained how long I had already waited and that I planned my vacation around this visit so that I did not wish to cancel it. She said that was fine. She sent me the link to the intake forms. On ALL of the intake forms when asked what my reason for the visit was, I filled in to establish a new patient relationship. Even this morning upon the entry forms at the time of the visit, I mentioned this. I told Dr. Jones how excited I was to finally meet her, that I’d watched some videos of her on YouTube, and that I was elated her practice was so convenient to my work/ home. That’s when she told me that, unfortunately, she was retiring.
How is it possible that NOBODY communicated that to me? I paid for a $70 visit today ( not to mention how much my insurance will end up paying) and $6 to park in the garage to have a “chat”, allegedly. After waiting several months for a new patient visit?
This is absolutely unacceptable. Dr. Jones, I so enjoyed finally meeting you and our conversation, but I feel as if I have no choice but to contact my insurance company about this appointment. Not only was this visit an unnecessary cost to both BCBS and me, but there are also ethical questions surrounding this situation. Why would a doctor even see a new patient- clearly written and communicated in all of the paperwork- if they were, in fact, only going to announce their retirement at the time of the visit?
Upon posting this review just now, a woman from only 1 MONTH AGO says she is a new patient and is so glad to join this practice. How is that even possible if this doctor is retiring? Whatever the situation may be, shame on you Fondren Orthopedic Group.

Dr. Jones is adorable, quirky, very good bedside manner! To top that she explains everything, offers excellent information from diet to medication plan. My first visit with Dr. Holly Jones, Rheumatologist, at Fondren Orthopedic Hospital was a breath of fresh air. Houston is a super intimidating place to seek healthcare for those of us from small towns. Dr. Holly Jones’ office was easy to find and navigate. I was highly impressed with the facility, parking garage and ease of access to the main building. Everyone I encountered was helpful and friendly, and I found Dr. Holly Jones’ office easily.
I was thoroughly impressed with the care and compassion shown to me at my first encounter. I was a new patient for Dr. Holly Jones, and this was my first EVER visit to see a rheumatologist. I did not know what to expect or what the visit was going to entail.
Her nurse Forrest was kind and friendly. As with all doctor visits, I am well aware that it’s my responsibility to advocate my needs and ask questions, which was exactly what I did. Forrest answered every question kindly and patiently.
Dr. Holly Jones is highly respected and sought after in the specialty of rheumatology. Dr. Jones provided an explanation of abnormal lab results that I had been seeking for years. She took her time with my examination and explained EVERYTHING in great detail. Dr. Jones was very knowledgeable and super easy to talk with. My questions were answered in a way that was easily understood. Dr. Jones truly cares for her patients and the outcome of their treatment. I feel very confident in the care plan that Dr. Holly Jones has provided thus far, and I look forward to continued care under her watchful eye. I am honored to be one of her patients!

Arrived early and was taken back for initial evaluation, referred to Otto surgeon, X-rayed and seen by orthopedic surgeon all within 2 hours including an injection in my hip. Dr Jones and Dr Matthew’s were very thorough in my examinations and prognosis. Would definitely recommend them.

Dr. Jones’ office staff is both friendly and fun! Dr. Jones is compassionate and caring. She always takes her time with me and thoroughly reviews my health issues, and trust me, when it comes to Rheumatology there is usually a lot going on! I have been coming to her for 20 years and would never go anywhere else. In today’s healthcare world you never know what you’re going to get but when I come to see Holly Jones, I always know it will be first class service!
