I am so grateful to have found Acacia Clinic for my TMS treatment. Acacia truly provides the most effective treatment for your mental health needs. My doctor (Dr.DeGaetano) worked with me to provide customized care. I ended up doing fMRI targeting + conventional TMS. From day one, I have noticed a difference in my sleep quality. By the end of my treatment, I have seen significant improvement in my symptoms. There is a great sense of newness and hope within me now that I have not felt in a long time.
Other than outcome-based care, the staff here (Nurse, all the Technicians, patient experience) are extremely warm. I have always enjoyed my visits here. It never felt like I'm going to a clinic - I just sit in a chair comfortably for 20 minutes while chatting with the Technicians.

Acacia Clinics - Sunnyvale would not be half as amazing without its talented and kind staff. Before I talk about my SAINT TMS experience, I want to thank everyone who made it possible.
Thank you to my TMS coordinator, Julia, who made the transition from planning and prep work to my first appointment seamless. I had countless questions in the beginning and never felt ashamed for asking. I was extremely nervous at the start. A $35k procedure relying on insurance coverage couldn't be taken lightly. I needed to ensure the costs were covered and that I had alternatives. Julia's warmth and dedication eased my anxiety and gave me confidence. I don't think I would've continued past the prep stage without her support.
Thank you to MaryAnn from the billing team. Talking about costs is always scary, but she answered all my questions with grace and compassion. Though we only communicated through email, it was a pleasure working with her.
Thank you to the TMS technicians who made my newfound hope and outlook on life possible. I'm terrible with names, but every technician I worked with was wonderful. I felt completely safe in their care and enjoyed so many amazing conversations that helped pass the time. They're the unsung heroes of my treatment and the reason I finally feel better than "okay". I *never* dreaded my appointments because I knew I'd be greeted with kindness and professionalism.
Thank you to my TMS research coordinator, Vivian, who guided me through the research process with such warmth. I probably wouldn't have continued with the research if not for her—not because it was uncomfortable, but because it was time-consuming. Chatting with Vivian made participation something I looked forward to rather than a chore. It was an honor to work with her, and I'm grateful for her dedication.
Thank you to Ms. D at the front desk—my apologies for not using your full name; I don't want to get it wrong! Seeing her every morning was a highlight. I passed the time doodling on the menus provided, and though I worried it might be bothersome, she embraced my silly drawings wholeheartedly. My only regret is never meeting Capo in person, though thankfully he was there in spirit. My experience wouldn't have been complete without her welcoming presence.
Finally, thank you to the marketing and design team! Honestly, their work is why I chose Acacia in the first place. The photos and design made the space feel warm and inviting—nothing like a sterile, eerie doctor's office. I loved the plants everywhere, especially the plant wall in the building. The hidden artistic touches, like the tiny vases of flowers with everyone's names and handmade stickers, added so much cute charm. I had the honor of meeting someone from the marketing team—the wife of one of the TMS technicians—and she was incredibly kind. I'm so glad I got to thank her and give her the credit she deserves!

Quite simply the best run and most welcoming medical establishment I have ever had the pleasure of encountering. Tonie and Denise at the front provided a combination of warmth and humour, while also delivering extraordinary levels of customer service. Oh, and the TMS treatments work!

Update: Although the office staff is wonderful, I feel I need to alert readers to one of the possible side effects of Accelerated TMS. I was not told about it and experienced horrible panic attacks daily for almost a year. These panic attacks would subside into high anxiety but then escalate to another panic attack. This went on for close to a year and the doctor I had here didn’t believe in anxiety meds. It was truly a year from hell.
After accidentally reading something on line about the possible correlation between Accelerated TMS and Panic Attacks, I called Acacia in California and asked about it. The doctor said yes, it happens but rarely. He said they have newer equipment that remedies that.
I’m not sure I believe him enough to risk going through the Accelerated TMS procedure again. Thanks to an amazing doctor here in Lawrence, Dr. Taylor Porter, I was prescribed the right medication and the panic attacks went away. These lingering anxiety is still there but it does not completely disable me. Based on what I know of the staff at Acacia, I trust they took my conversation with them to heart and applied it to their new patients and research.
Just felt anyone wanting to try Accelerated TMS should know of this risk.
There were only a few places that offered it but the successful results were featured in 60 minutes and that’s how I found Acacia - through a university study that referred me to Acacia & Dr. Carreon.

Dr Carreon and his entire staff are incredible. Everyone is very professional yet very compassionate. This is a group of people who are highly skilled and thorough in everything they do. Obviously, in this for the right reason which is helping people.
I highly and wholeheartedly recommend Acacia Mental Health Clinic as a place that offers alternative methods for treating mental illness. As a Canadian who travelled all the way to Sunnyvale for treatment, I assure you that it has been a thoroughly worthwhile experience.
Having struggled many years with a mood disorder and being resistant to the majority of common medications, I have been existing day to day with fatigue, sadness and insomnia which has impacted my personal and work life. AMHC’s organized method in planning my treatment enabled me to select the best option and enabled me to take a vital role in my healing journey.
Acacia possesses great resources and the most current technology. But equally important is the staff - doctors, technicians, nurse practitioners and administrators - all of whom demonstrated kindness, compassion and empathy. Indeed, Acacia Mental Health Clinic is a very special place.
