I have multiple rotator cuff tears and cartilage damage in my right shoulder and have been researching stem cell and PRP treatments and clinics in the Tampa Bay area. I narrowed it down to three well reviewed clinics and visited all three in the same week to decide which one to use. I consulted with Regenerative Orthopedic Institute last of the three and decided that their approach was best for me. I was most impressed by the fact that Dr. Ghana was a real Orthopedic doctor and not a clinician who had a needle.
Katheryn was extremely patient and friendly as she explained their procedures and helped me understand the different options and equipment they used. Doctor Ghana took his time explaining and answering my questions and I felt confident in his professionalism. When it came to the actual procedure, they took my own blood and processed it in multiple steps to derive my PRP base injections and took live bone marrow from my pelvis and processed it to concentrate the living stem cells to mix with my live PRP to reinject into my shoulder within minutes. (6-7 injections) This keeps the stem cells alive, and they are my own live stem cells which eliminates the possibility of rejection and directs a more powerful response of my own DNA signaling to activate the healing processes. The procedures were relatively painless, but they also offered a $50 add-on for nitrous oxide that is SOOO worth the extra price to help eliminate any discomfort. I highly recommend that you get the NOS, and this will be a piece of cake! It has only been a few days since my procedure, and I am comfortable and waiting to see what the long-term results are. I am due to have a follow up PRP booster injection after one month, and I will try to update this review after a couple of months to let everyone know what my healing results are.
Update 8-11-2025
I had my shoulder injected with Stem cells by Dr. Grana about 6 months ago. I have been very pleased with the results, and with the care I received by Kathryn and Dr. Grana. I was in terrible pain from a torn rotator cuff with multiple tears of the cuff and also a torn labrum (cartilage), and Stem cells were my last resort before surgery. I am so glad that I went with Dr. Grana! It took a couple of months before I started really feeling better, but then the healing took off and I feel like my shoulder is about 98% healed now. Even most of the clicking and popping I had is gone. I can do everything pain free now. I don't want to reinjure it so I am being careful but thinking of going back to the gym now and carefully strengthening the joint. I am extremely happy that I chose Regenerative Orthopedic and their "Live" stem cell transplant from my own bone marrow. The results for me have been fantastic! CS

I was in a car accident in November. My neck and back were still and in pain. Dr Grana was wonderful in explaining the stem cell procedure and how it could regenerate my problem areas. I had the procedure done a week and a half ago and I’m already feeling improvements. My neck pain is greatly reduced and improving daily. In addition, my lower back has better mobility and and the pain has subsided! Would recommend for any joint injury. The staff and outcome have been wonderful!

I had stem-cell injections at Dr. Grana's office (Regenerative Orthopedics) on 4/21/25, for my left hip and right knee. I'm in my late 60s, but I knew that the occasional severe pain in those 2 joints was not simply due to arthritis. My right tibia is noticeably curved, putting pressure on the knee; and 15 years ago I popped my left hip out of its socket, which was at about 75% strength on good days. On bad days, the pain was severe enough in either or both joints that I had to use painkillers to fall asleep. I thought that trying to get functional cartilage back in those joints would be more effective and less painful than hip- or knee-replacement surgery.
The prep for the procedure involves drawing blood (for the PRP treatment Dr. Grana always gives with the stem-cell injections) and drawing stem cells from the pelvis. By the time his staff processed the blood & stem cells, the Valium (half a tablet) had kicked in, so I didn't much mind the injections - which included a bunch of local anesthesia. The procedure took under 2 hours, and then I walked out of the clinic.
On a pain scale of 0 as "not even on my radar" to 10 as "MORPHINE!!! NOW!!!" (expletives deleted), the hip and knee were at 7-8 right after the injections. That went down to 2 on the 2nd day. Tylenol was enough to deal with it. By the 4th day, when I biked 3+ miles (gently, no hills), I felt normal - except that I didn't have the sporadic pain in my hip & knee that I'd been living with for years.
The fee for stem-cell injections at Regenerative Orthopedics includes a follow-up PRP injection after 4 weeks, which I just had. There was some stiffness for a day after that, but again it was manageable with Tylenol.
I was told not to engage in moderate exercise for 6 weeks after the initial injections, and not to do heavy / high-impact exercise for 3 months. We'll see what happens when I get back to tennis in another month ... But meanwhile: if my left hip & right knee feel this good for the rest of my life (0-1 on a scale of 10), or even for the next 10 years, I'll be very satisfied.
Dr. Grana and his staff explained very clearly what they were doing and what to expect. They took great care of me during the procedure, and followed up afterwards. I recommend Regenerative Orthopedics wholeheartedly, and very gratefully!

This review is a little lengthy; however, I wanted to explain how bad my shoulders were. Several years ago, I had a car accident which resulted in double shoulder surgery. I had cartilage removed in both shoulders. Approximately one year later I started experiencing pain in both shoulders. My orthopedic doctor told me it was arthritis, bone-on-bone pain. I started receiving injections of euflexxa every six months, which is a lubricant to relieve the bone-on-bone pain. My doctor told me that it would eventually stop working. Six years later the euflexxa started to only last a couple months. My orthopedic doctor told me that my next option was shoulder replacement. At 55 years old and very active and a Police Officer still working as a patrol Sergeant, there was no way I wanted to chance replacing both of my shoulders.
After a few months of researching stem cell therapy, I located Regenerative Orthopedic Institute. I called and spoke with Katherine. Katherine was wonderful. She took all the time that I needed on the phone and was very heartfelt and caring. I then scheduled a consultation. I met with Katherine and Dr. Grana. Dr. Grana was very thorough and caring. Dr. Grana was honest and very straight forward on the procedure, recovery and success percentages. I was very concerned about the success of my situation because my injuries were severe. I was losing range of motion in both shoulders. I was in pain just sitting and I could not sleep for more than an hour to hour and a half without the pain waking me up to readjust. Dr. Grana was very blunt about my recovery chances with my injuries. There was no guarantee; however, Dr. Grana took the time and explained several of his past experiences that were similar to mine. My right shoulder was worse than my left shoulder.
I scheduled the procedure, and it was amazing from the start. From the moment I walked in the front door, I was treated very professionally and like I was part of their family. During the procedure Dr. Grana and Katherine explained what they were doing step by step. It was very comforting, and they made it as relaxing as they could. After the procedure Dr. Grana and Katherine gave me post procedure instructions and also followed up with a phone call a couple days later, which they told me they would do. I had two post procedure visits, and both of the visits were just as caring and professional as the first visit.
It has now been six months since the procedure, and I have to say it was more than worth it. I am pain free when not using my shoulders, which has not happened for several years. I have more range of motion and I actually can sleep 4 to 5 hours now without waking up from the shoulder pain. My right shoulder which was by far the worst, and it is approximately 75 percent better and my left shoulder is approximately 85 percent better! I am a true believer in stem cell therapy!! I would do the procedure again in a heartbeat!!!!
I highly recommend Dr. Granna and Katherine they are the best!!!! Thank you, Dr. Grana and Katherine!!

I've had lower back pain for years, after some research I found the Regenerative Orthopedic Institute. I was skeptical at first because there's so much conflicting information on Stem Cells but after arriving at the office the procedure was fully explained to me and everything made sense. 3 months after the surgery, 100% of my arthritis related pain in my back has subsided. There's no more constant dull ache and my sleep has definitely been better because of that. Highly recommend.
