My Frozen Shoulder Recovery Journey, A Story of Hope and Healing
My frozen shoulder journey began unexpectedly, with what seemed like a mild pain in my left shoulder. I went to my primary care physician, who referred me to an orthopedic specialist. During my first visit, I was diagnosed with tendonitis and received a cortisone injection. Within 48 hours, the pain intensified drastically, and my shoulder began to freeze.
The stiffness worsened quickly. When I returned to the orthopedist, he ordered an MRI and was given the diagnosis of Frozen shoulder and suggested I continue home exercises. Unfortunately, instead of improving, the pain became unbearable. Hoping for relief, I sought physical therapy, where I was given shockwave treatment, which, instead of helping, left me bruised and in even greater pain .
Desperate for relief, I consulted a second orthopedist who administered ultrasound-guided cortisone injections once a month for three consecutive months. Each injection offered only temporary relief for a few days, after which the pain returned even more intensely. Several doctors then recommended Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA) as the next step, but after everything I had endured, I was hesitant and fearful of pursuing another invasive procedure.
By the fourth month, my range of motion was completely gone, and the night pain was excruciating. I couldn’t dress myself, sleep, or perform simple daily tasks. I felt defeated.
