Dr. Toure Vashon is the best! I have had multiple back surgeries and the last one was by Dr Vashon! He was very thorough and he repaired a mistake by another Dr. I was so comfortable with him. He even called me himself after my surgery to see how I was doing! Now that was personalized service!

I've had very positive experiences at this practice, except for the one I'm writing about. My concern (complaint) is this practice's refusal to prescribe Amoxicillin, an antibiotic that costs $11.99 retail, until I made an appointment with a new physician.
Background: I received two full knee replacements in 2021 and 2022 by Dr. Hoer. Dr. Hoer was specific about my taking Amoxicillin for dental appointments due to the potential for infection. Amoxicillin for life. A recommendation confirmed in previous conversations with PAs.
I received this medication, without question, through January, 2026. It was first prescribed by my dentist and then by OIHNV. I believe OIHNV started prescribing in 2024. My last prescription from OIHNV was January, 2026.
I called last week for additional Amoxicillin. I had another dental appointment on Feb. 24. I was told by the person on the phone -- presumably a PA -- that Dr. Hoer had retired. I had not been back to this practice since 2022. Until I made an appointment with another physician, there would be no more prescriptions for Amoxicillin.
I wasn't told in January that Amoxicillin would be discontinued. I told the PA that I would make an appointment with Dr. King. I was experiencing some stiffness and minor pain in my left knee. It made sense to remain in good standing with the practice. We set the appointment for early April. I believe the date is April 3.
I stressed that Dr. Hoer had recommended life long use of Amoxicillin. I had received it as recently as January, 2026. Even after the appointment was made, the PA refused to send in a prescription for Amoxicillin, a standard and widely used antibiotic that costs $11.99 for four 500 mg. tablets at Walgreens.
You might be wondering whether the PA refused to prescribe because she was concerned about the medication's side effects. Let's give her the benefit of the doubt. She never asked me about side effects, which by the way I've never experienced. Her reasons for 'no Amoxicillin' were Dr. Hoer's retirement and my absence from the practice since 2022.
Nor did she inquire if I had asked about returning to OIHNV for a follow up. For the record, this occurred in previous conversations with PAs. Not on every prescription call but once or twice. I got the impression that, if there were no negative symptoms, what was the purpose in making an appointment. There weren't any issues at the time, so I didn't. I continued to receive prescriptions for Amoxicillin from OIHNV, no questions asked.
In February, I got a prescription for Amoxicillin from my primary care doctor. I'm glad I didn't have to make a choice between cancelling my dental appointment or keeping it and risking an infection.
This review rates OIHNV a 2 for this PA's excessive rigidity, disregarding Dr. Hoer's protocol regarding Amoxicillin, and a general lack of concern about my wellbeing. For example, if she was so intent on denying my request for a standard antibiotic drug, even after an appointment was made to see Dr. King, and with no prior notice in January about its discontinuation, she could have asked about the medication's side effects or inquired about my history in getting prescriptions for OIHNV. None of this took place.
