Arthritis Treatment clinics in New York City

If you searched for arthritis treatment in Manhattan, you have likely moved past whether to get care and into which kind of provider fits your joint and your diagnosis. Arthritis treatment covers a wide range in this city, from physical therapy and medication management to joint injections offered in orthopedic, rheumatology and sports medicine offices, and a directory listing alone will not tell you which of those a given practice performs. Confirm that a provider plans to examine the joint, review your arthritis type and look at imaging before any procedure is proposed.

Across New York City, orthopedic and rheumatology offices tend to cluster along the Upper East Side's York Avenue and First Avenue medical corridor, around Midtown's Park Avenue offices, and near Union Square and Gramercy. Patients from Brooklyn often reach these practices by the 4, 5 or 6 subway lines, those in Queens commonly use the E or 7 trains, and New Jersey commuters often come through the Lincoln or Holland Tunnel. If a practice sits outside Manhattan, confirm the exact address and transit access before booking.

A first visit at an orthopedic, rheumatology or pain management office in New York typically includes a history, a physical exam of the joint and a review of prior imaging or labs. If an injection such as a corticosteroid alternative or platelet-rich plasma comes up, ask who administers it, what their credentials are, where the substance comes from and what written disclosure you receive about risks. Ask what happens if the treatment does not relieve your symptoms, and request a quote that separates the evaluation, any imaging and the procedure from follow-up visits.

Many regenerative injections for arthritis are paid out of pocket, and the evidence for several indications is still developing, so treat how easy a listing is to find separately from how strong the research behind a treatment actually is. On this page, listing order is not sold, Featured placements are labeled and capped, and Verified means a provider's credentials were checked rather than paid for. Regenerated.com is free for patients, and appearing in this directory is not an endorsement. Regulatory context

A note on New York's arthritis treatment rules.

The "other" category is a catchall for regenerative wellness modalities with inconsistent federal oversight. Red light therapy devices (photobiomodulation) have narrow FDA 510(k) clearances for acne, muscle pain, and wound healing, not systemic regeneration. Whole-body cryotherapy is NOT FDA-approved for any medical indication and received an FDA safety communication in July 2016 warning of asphyxiation, frostbite, and burn risks. Ozone therapy is NOT FDA-approved for any medical use and the FDA has stated ozone is a toxic gas with no known useful medical application. Condition-specific regenerative offerings (hair restoration with minoxidil or finasteride, ED care beyond PDE5 inhibitors and shockwave) have varying approval depending on route and drug source.

  • New York Education Law Article 131 (Practice of Medicine)
Defines practice of medicine and strictly enforces corporate practice restrictions for medical spas.
  • New York Business Corporation Law § 1503
Requires professional service corporations providing medical services to be owned exclusively by licensed physicians.
  • NYS Department of Health Office of Professional Medical Conduct
Investigates physician misconduct including inappropriate delegation at medical spas.

New York is one of the strictest enforcement states. The Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC) has issued public guidance and pursued disciplinary action against medical spas for corporate practice violations, inappropriate RN or PA delegation, and false advertising of unapproved therapies. Ozone therapy faces heavy scrutiny, and clinics making cancer, Lyme, or autoimmune treatment claims have faced OPMC action and Attorney General consumer protection lawsuits. The NY AG pursues deceptive health claims aggressively under General Business Law Article 22-A.

Arthritis Treatment in New York City, answered.

Cost depends on your diagnosis, the treatment chosen and whether imaging or physical therapy is involved. Conventional care like physical therapy and medication is often at least partly covered by insurance in New York, while injections such as PRP are usually cash pay. Ask your insurer about the specific billing code and ask the provider for a written quote that separates evaluation, imaging and the procedure. This page does not publish average costs because they vary by provider.

Candidacy depends on the type of arthritis, the joint involved and how you have responded to prior care. Someone with confirmed osteoarthritis who has tried conservative treatment without relief is often a reasonable candidate for the next step, while someone with an undiagnosed joint problem, an active infection or uncontrolled inflammatory disease is usually asked to address that first. A thorough exam and imaging review should come before any procedure is scheduled.

Most plans start with an evaluation and a conservative approach such as physical therapy, bracing or medication, with injections considered if symptoms persist. Follow-up typically involves reassessing pain and function at intervals the provider sets based on your response, not a fixed schedule promised in advance. Ask what markers the clinic uses to judge progress and what the next step is if an early treatment does not help.

Look for board certification in orthopedics, rheumatology, physiatry or a related specialty, and ask who in the office actually performs any injection or procedure. New York State's Office of the Professions maintains a public license lookup where you can confirm a provider's license status and disciplinary history. Also ask how the office is supervised if a technician or physician assistant is involved in your care.

A general search mixes paid ads, directory sites and clinic marketing with little way to tell them apart. This page lists clinics serving New York City with the same format for each entry, labels any Featured placements, and marks Verified status based on credential checks rather than advertising spend. It is a starting point for comparing providers, not a ranking of who treats arthritis best.

Featured listings are a labeled, capped set of placements and do not reflect how well a provider treats arthritis. Verified means Regenerated.com checked the provider's credentials, not that they paid for better placement. The remaining organic listings are not ordered by payment. Read both as information to weigh alongside your own research, not as an endorsement.

Research on injections such as PRP for arthritis is still developing, with stronger support for some joints and uses than others, and many of these injections are not approved by the FDA for arthritis specifically. Conventional options like physical therapy and medication have a longer track record for many types of arthritis. Ask any provider what published research supports the specific treatment and joint they are recommending for you.
