New York City, NY

Red Light Therapy clinics in New York City

Red light therapy in New York City is offered mostly by recovery and wellness studios, medical spas, dermatology practices, and chiropractic and physical therapy offices. In Manhattan, providers cluster in Midtown, the Flatiron District, SoHo, Tribeca and the Upper East Side, where many medical offices sit close to the East Side hospitals. Across the rivers, Williamsburg and Park Slope in Brooklyn and Long Island City and Astoria in Queens have their own options, while Staten Island and much of the Bronx have fewer. Because sessions are usually repeated, a provider near your subway line, office or home often matters more than one across town.

If you searched for a particular studio or membership brand together with New York, including round-the-clock or self-serve recovery memberships, look for that name in the list of 42 providers on this page. This copy does not describe or rate individual businesses. The list shows who is listed, where they are and what each profile says, so you can compare a name you already know with alternatives in the same neighborhood.

At a studio, a first visit is often a short intake, a walkthrough of the bed or panel, eye protection and a timed session run by trained staff. At a dermatology or physical therapy office, a licensed clinician usually assesses the skin problem or injury first and decides whether light belongs in a wider plan. Follow up is typically a schedule of repeat visits agreed in advance and reviewed if nothing changes.

Before booking, ask who operates the device and who supervises them, which manufacturer, model and wavelengths are used, and whether the device has FDA clearance for your purpose. Ask for risks, photosensitivity and medication questions and eye protection rules in writing, what happens if the sessions do not help, and a quote that separates single visits, packages, memberships, add-ons and cancellation terms. Most of this is cash pay, and evidence for broad wellness claims is thin.

Listing order here is not paid ranking. Featured slots are labeled and capped, Verified means credential checks rather than advertising spend, and Regenerated.com is free for patients. Regulatory context

A note on New York's red light therapy rules.

The "other" category is a catchall for regenerative wellness modalities with inconsistent federal oversight. Red light therapy devices (photobiomodulation) have narrow FDA 510(k) clearances for acne, muscle pain, and wound healing, not systemic regeneration. Whole-body cryotherapy is NOT FDA-approved for any medical indication and received an FDA safety communication in July 2016 warning of asphyxiation, frostbite, and burn risks. Ozone therapy is NOT FDA-approved for any medical use and the FDA has stated ozone is a toxic gas with no known useful medical application. Condition-specific regenerative offerings (hair restoration with minoxidil or finasteride, ED care beyond PDE5 inhibitors and shockwave) have varying approval depending on route and drug source.

  • New York Education Law Article 131 (Practice of Medicine)
Defines practice of medicine and strictly enforces corporate practice restrictions for medical spas.
  • New York Business Corporation Law § 1503
Requires professional service corporations providing medical services to be owned exclusively by licensed physicians.
  • NYS Department of Health Office of Professional Medical Conduct
Investigates physician misconduct including inappropriate delegation at medical spas.

New York is one of the strictest enforcement states. The Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC) has issued public guidance and pursued disciplinary action against medical spas for corporate practice violations, inappropriate RN or PA delegation, and false advertising of unapproved therapies. Ozone therapy faces heavy scrutiny, and clinics making cancer, Lyme, or autoimmune treatment claims have faced OPMC action and Attorney General consumer protection lawsuits. The NY AG pursues deceptive health claims aggressively under General Business Law Article 22-A.

Red Light Therapy in New York City, answered.

Red light therapy providers in New York City are concentrated in Manhattan, especially Midtown, the Flatiron District, SoHo, Tribeca and the Upper East Side. Brooklyn neighborhoods such as Williamsburg and Park Slope and Queens neighborhoods such as Long Island City and Astoria also have options, while Staten Island and much of the Bronx have fewer. Since visits are usually repeated, pick a location that fits your commute before buying any package.

Prices in New York City vary with the setting, the equipment, session length and whether you pay per visit, by package or through a membership. Wellness and cosmetic sessions are usually cash pay and rarely covered by insurance. This page does not publish averages because listed providers price too differently for one figure to help. Ask for a written quote that itemizes the session fee, any assessment, add-ons, package terms and refund or cancellation rules.

People interested in red light therapy for skin concerns, minor aches or recovery are the usual clients, ideally after a clinician has ruled out anything needing other care. People who are pregnant, have light-sensitive conditions, take photosensitizing medication, have a history of skin cancer or have eye conditions are often told to check with a doctor first. A New York City provider should ask about these at intake rather than leave it to you.

Most New York City providers run red light therapy as a series of short, repeated sessions rather than a single visit, and research supports some skin and pain uses better than broad wellness claims. The first appointment covers intake, eye protection and device settings, and later visits follow an agreed schedule. Frequency and duration differ by goal and by provider, so ask how progress will be judged, when the plan will be reviewed and whether you can stop without losing money on an unused package.

In many New York wellness studios, trained staff rather than licensed clinicians run the sessions, which reflects how these devices are generally regulated. For pain, injury or a skin condition, look for a setting where a licensed professional assesses you first. You can confirm New York licenses for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, chiropractors and physical therapists through the online verification of the New York State Education Department Office of the Professions.

Reviews of red light therapy studios in New York City usually describe atmosphere, booking and staff, which are useful but say little about whether the treatment helped a specific condition. Look for comments on clear pricing, honest expectations and how complaints were handled. Treat glowing claims of dramatic results with caution, and weigh reviews alongside the credentials, device details and written terms each provider can give you before you book.

Organic order on this page is not sold. Featured slots are labeled and capped, and Verified means the provider completed credential checks, not that it paid more. Unlike a plain web search, which mixes ads and national brands, this page shows only listed New York City providers, and unlike the national red light therapy hub, it focuses on local choice. Regenerated.com is free for patients, and inclusion is not an endorsement.

Some providers pair red light therapy with PRP for skin or hair, but evidence for the combination is limited and timing advice varies. Ask the clinician who performed your PRP when, or whether, light sessions are appropriate, especially if the treated skin is still irritated or healing. If the PRP and red light therapy happen at different New York City locations, make sure each provider knows about the other treatment.
