I was referred here. I realized I should have checked the reviews because there is a lot of one star. Somehow I would like to have a 0 star option! When youre in a new patient appointment in tears because you have been yelled at because you are doing the best you can to care for yourself. Mr. Hughes is the opposite of "How can we help?" He's not a Doctor because I know from myself, he has broken the oath of do no harm.

Absolutely dismal care. I had a dual referral to Dr. Hughes - my sleep specialist and my PCP referred me for separate reasons. Without reading my chart, Dr. Hughes dismissed the diagnosis provided by the sleep specialist and told me she was not qualified to diagnose me based off of a sleep study, fully ignoring the fact that I had already told him the doctor diagnosed me based on my history, symptoms, AND the sleep study results. He then looked at my history and provided the exact same diagnosis, acting like he had come up with it himself. At my follow-up visit a few weeks later, he raised his voice at me and fired me as a patient because I told him I had already tried the care plan he was suggesting under a different doctor's care years previously (which was also in my chart). He had no other suggestions or ideas, but instead threw a tantrum when I advocated for myself and refused to spend another year trying a method that was already proven not to work for me. To add insult to injury, I have been waiting since March (four months) for a refund for both of those visits. I have left messages on multiple voicemails, sent a handful of emails, sent messages through the portal, and have spoken with two different people in the billing department who tell me the refund is waiting on the front office manager's approval. Avoid Tidewater Neuro at all expenses. This service borders on malpractice.

INSURANCE FRAUD COMPLAINT made against this practice. Dr. Hughes was fantastic. The office staff is terrible. First, I arrived from my 1st appt only to have the office staff say there was no doctor and they cancelled the appt. They were rude when I stated I had a reminder text the night before and was upset because I missed a day of work and my driver did as well. At the rescheduled appt they collect almost $300 from me. After reviewing my insurance report I only had a $40 copay owed. After 4 requests for a refund, they’ve refused to refund my payment. My insurance company filed the fraud complaint on my behalf. PLEASE check with your insurance to ensure you are not warranted a refund.
