I've been with cantera psychiatry for two or three years now, but recently my doctor left the practice and I was assigned to "Doctor" Ansbro...I'm on lithium because I have Borderline Personality Disorder, and she disregarded all of what my psychiatrist said and told me she was going to discontinue my lithium. To be more specific, I take the lithium so I don't have suicidal ideation several times a day(passing thoughts with no intent) so concerned, I told her this and asked what else we could try instead of the lithium for my suicidal thoughts, and she says "oh, well if you're having so many suicidal thoughts then call 911". I've been with a lot of psychiatrists but never have I seen a doctor in the mental health field that is so blatantly unempathetic. She doesn't care about patients, especially the more complex cases like myself. Now, I do have a bit of a temper so after that I just had to hang up so I didn't say anything that could make them terminate me as a patient, and then I called their office to try and make an appointment with someone else to go over next steps. I was told they could get me in with someone else today, December 4th, but when I didn't get a notification like I usually do on my phone before the appointment I decided to call and make sure they didn't forget. I was then told my appointment was scheduled for the first of December not the 4th, but when I scheduled my appointment I double checked that I had the right date and time. And so they scheduled me for the 9th. I said that was fine, and then she says "actually we terminated you as a patient we sent you a letter". I got no letter, no heads up, no medications to even last me to the next month, and no explanation as to why. Now I have one week to find someone who can see me. Which nowadays is impossible. So I will be going through medication withdrawal now and will probably end up in the hospital. So thank you cantera psychiatry for treating me and others like we aren't human and don't matter.

I was referred to Dr. Ansbro by my therapist while seeking care for my eating disorder. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I hoped that Dr. Ansbro would be understanding and supportive.
I have a history of intensive treatment for my eating disorder, including IOP, partial hospitalization, and residential programs. My time in residential treatment was traumatizing: the facility was not trauma-informed, and I felt violated within the first 24 hours. I left early, desperate for help, and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Ansbro to continue treatment while searching for a program better suited to me.
Unfortunately, I was met with snide, condescending behavior. Dr. Ansbro accused me of being non-compliant and claimed other physicians said I had stopped taking all medications, an assertion that was completely false. In reality, medication changes were directed by Dr. Ansbro and other doctors due to serious side effects I experienced.
During the appointment, Dr. Ansbro judged me harshly, criticized my self-soothing, accused me of poor self-care, and ultimately refused to continue treating me. Quite frankly, I do not understand how this “doctor” is even in the field of mental health. At a time when I was desperate for support for my eating disorder, I was made to feel shamed, dismissed, and unsafe.
I strongly recommend seeking a different psychiatrist. I was fortunate to find a doctor who truly listens and prioritizes both mental and physical health. Dr. Ansbro is awful and not that provider. I would give zero stars if I could.

i really enjoyed going to cantera psychiatry until they ghosted me. i was hoping to get notice of whether my insurance would cover treatment there, but i never got a call back and they never answer the phone. i wasted $100 as essentially a “down payment” to get into the practice. i still have probably $60 in credits left that i’ll never get to use and that will never get refunded.

all of the care i’ve received has been stellar. i feel cared for, important and worthy of everyone’s time. that’s huge after almost two decades of attempting mental health care. i’ve finally found a place that has people with true hearts. these people care. so grateful for everyone here - truly, they have saved my life.

I’ve been a patient of Dr.Ansbro for many years now and have never, ever had any problems with the office until recently. First, Dr.Ansbro suddenly “stepped down” from seeing patients and I was switched over to seeing the nurse practitioner. I had no problem with that. Then, they switched their billing over to a third party and that’s when the problems started. The office started billing incorrectly to my insurance company, making me have an incorrect copay. They refused to take any responsibility for that for months. They insisted that they billed correctly and that it was my insurance company that was just refusing to make the correct payment. I tried numerous times to get this corrected, reached out to the office, left voicemails after voicemails and no response. My insurance even tried calling on my behalf several times and they received the run around. I was finally able to get ahold of Steven, the clinic manager at that time, and he told me that he was going to look into the matter and give me a call back. Days went by without a response, that turned into weeks and then months. I always was the one reaching out to try and get this matter resolved. Steven did not keep his word and give me updates about the matter. This was very frustrating and then, they switched their billing party again!!! This new lady, is just like Steven! I had an in person appointment and out of nowhere I have a $90 balance with the office. Not once did they call me or send me any sort of bill notifying me of this. After my in person appointment I spoke to the new billing manager about the issue, since I had just called the office a week prior and had a $30 balance, and she mentioned she was going to take care of it to where I would only be responsible for the $30. I call back a week later to verify that it was resolved and it was, surprisingly. Called a week after that to make my $30 payment, and now was informed I have a balance of $60. From one week to the next I had another payment that I was responsible for. This individual did not keep her word. She tried telling me that they have no idea how much my insurance company is going to pay towards claims. If I have been seeing this provider for the same reasons the entire year, wouldn’t the office be able to tell how much my insurance company would payout based on previous claims??! Nothings changed. When I tried explaining this to the new billing manager, it turned into a shouting match. She wouldn’t let me talk. We were just talking over each other and nothing was being done. This is the reason why I am no longer a patient of the practice!!! These third party billers and office managers do not know what they are doing at all and then they have the nerve to blame the insurance company for the problems, not taking any responsibility for their mistakes! Very unprofessional!!!
