About this clinic

Foot & Ankle, a regenerative physical-medicine practice in Seattle, specializes in shockwave therapy and laser therapy for foot and ankle conditions. The clinic emphasizes conservative, regenerative approaches to musculoskeletal injury, using orthotics and non-surgical modalities as primary interventions and reserving surgery for cases where regenerative options have been exhausted. Shockwave therapy is used to address tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, and other soft-tissue conditions; laser therapy supports tissue repair and inflammation reduction. The practice combines these regenerative modalities with individualized orthotic design and ongoing physical management, positioning itself as an alternative to immediate surgical intervention fo

Dr. Douglas Hale is nothing short of exceptional. He has completely cured my calcific insertional Achilles tendinosis and retrocalcaneal bursitis, after 6+ months of debilitating pain. I went from being extremely active, trail running 20+ miles at a time and hiking and backpacking to support my primary sport—skiing, to being unable to wear a closed heel shoe of any kind or even walk around the block without significant pain, due to an overuse injury of my heel. I cut the heels out of my running and cycling shoes and sought Dr. Hale’s expertise and care. Dr. Hale was thorough, efficient, and listened carefully. His depth and breadth of experience was immediately obvious, though he listened to me describe my symptoms. He treated my unique set of concerns holistically, with the perfect blend of aggressive treatment as I was desperate to get in a ski boot, and at the same time a conservative approach. We ultimately decided on weekly shockwave therapy for my heel, which has been truly miraculous. I’m skiing (on what little snow we have this season in the PNW!) and hiking with ease. Just got back from a 10-mile trail run and continue to have 0/10 pain. Dr. Hale is simply the best. His office team are kind and caring, efficient, and processes are easy. 10/10 recommend!!!!

Dr. Douglas Hale was wonderful and I would recommend him. I was able to get a last minute appointment with him for a sudden painful foot issue that occurred just prior to a planned vacation that will involve a lot of walking. He was very thorough in his exam and gave me good suggestions that have already started to improve my issue. He listened to my description of the issue and spent plenty of time with his exam, explaining the possible diagnoses and recommended treatments. He’s very knowledgeable and I found him kind and patient.

I don't blame this doctor for my massive foot pain and dysfunction, however I went to see him at least 5 times spanning multiple years and ultimately received no relief no improvement no course of treatment beyond things I have already been doing for the last 15 years. In mid 2000s he stated I had a fractured sesamoid (possibly congenital, possibly due to injury) and would likely need foot surgery some day. Once that issue became more chronic and very impactful 13 years later, I visited again looking for help and he stated he would not have said that surgery would be likely. (Oh so I made that up? I think it's more likely he favors conservative treatments now.) During the next series of several visits, he seemed unwilling to look at more than one foot issue at a time. MRI with no follow up, expensive and absolutely generic-cookie cutter orthotics that didn't work for big toe pain (incorrectly sized) and aggravated mid foot pain all the way to my ankle that plagues me day and night. "That's a different problem." Ok, then please help me! All the accolades do not align with the level of care I received. Truly baffling.
