This is the national page for colon hydrotherapy on Regenerated.com, listing clinics across the United States that record the treatment. Colon hydrotherapy, also called colonic irrigation, colonic hydrotherapy, colonics or a high colonic, flushes the large intestine with warm, filtered water delivered through a small disposable tube placed in the rectum. In a closed system the therapist controls water flow and release through one tube, while in an open system the client lies on a basin and releases water on their own. Sessions are usually delivered by colon hydrotherapists, often working alongside naturopaths, chiropractors, massage therapists or nurses, and some physician led integrative practices offer it too. People compare it with enemas, oral colon cleanse kits, laxatives, the prescription bowel preparation used before a colonoscopy and coffee enemas.
The evidence picture is thin, and it is worth saying plainly. The FDA treats colonic irrigation systems as medical devices that are cleared for medically indicated bowel cleansing, such as preparing the colon before an X-ray or endoscopic exam, and not for general wellness, detoxification or weight loss. The agency has sent warning letters to companies promoting these devices for unsupported uses. There are no good quality randomized trials showing that colonics remove toxins or improve chronic conditions, and major gastroenterology groups do not support the practice. A review led by Ranit Mishori at Georgetown University described reported harms including cramping, nausea, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance and, rarely, bowel perforation.
A typical candidate is a healthy adult who understands the limited evidence, has no bowel disease and wants the session for comfort or routine. People with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, severe hemorrhoids, recent bowel surgery, heart or kidney disease, or pregnancy are usually told to avoid it or check with their own physician first. New constipation, rectal bleeding, unexplained weight loss or a change in bowel habits needs a medical evaluation, and a colonoscopy if advised, rather than a colonic.
Supply is spread across the country and sits mostly in the wellness sector. Colon hydrotherapy is offered in stand alone colonic studios, day spas and medical spas, naturopathic and chiropractic offices, and integrative clinics that pair it with IV therapy, infrared sauna or nutrition counseling. Listings tend to be denser in large Sun Belt metros, including Dallas and Fort Worth, Houston and Austin in Texas, South Florida and Southern California, with steady supply around New York. Smaller cities often have one or two providers, so some people travel to a nearby metro for a session.
Before booking anywhere, ask who will perform the session and what training or certification they hold, and whether a licensed clinician oversees the health screening. Rules differ by state: Florida, for example, regulates colonic irrigation through its massage therapy license, while many states have no specific license at all. Ask whether the system is FDA cleared, whether the rectal tube and speculum are single use, how water is filtered and how equipment is disinfected between clients. Ask for written disclosure of risks and the screening questions they use. A clear quote itemizes a single session, any add ons such as abdominal massage or supplements, and package terms, including how to cancel.
This national list is not for sale. Organic order is never paid ranking, Featured slots are labeled and capped, and Verified means the clinic completed credential checks, not that it spent money. Regenerated.com is free for patients, and inclusion in the directory is not an endorsement. Use the state hubs below the list to build a shortlist of colon hydrotherapy providers closer to you.
