Colon Hydrotherapy clinics in the United States

This is the national page for colon hydrotherapy on Regenerated.com, listing clinics across the United States that record the treatment. Colon hydrotherapy, also called colonic irrigation, colonic hydrotherapy, colonics or a high colonic, flushes the large intestine with warm, filtered water delivered through a small disposable tube placed in the rectum. In a closed system the therapist controls water flow and release through one tube, while in an open system the client lies on a basin and releases water on their own. Sessions are usually delivered by colon hydrotherapists, often working alongside naturopaths, chiropractors, massage therapists or nurses, and some physician led integrative practices offer it too. People compare it with enemas, oral colon cleanse kits, laxatives, the prescription bowel preparation used before a colonoscopy and coffee enemas.

The evidence picture is thin, and it is worth saying plainly. The FDA treats colonic irrigation systems as medical devices that are cleared for medically indicated bowel cleansing, such as preparing the colon before an X-ray or endoscopic exam, and not for general wellness, detoxification or weight loss. The agency has sent warning letters to companies promoting these devices for unsupported uses. There are no good quality randomized trials showing that colonics remove toxins or improve chronic conditions, and major gastroenterology groups do not support the practice. A review led by Ranit Mishori at Georgetown University described reported harms including cramping, nausea, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance and, rarely, bowel perforation.

A typical candidate is a healthy adult who understands the limited evidence, has no bowel disease and wants the session for comfort or routine. People with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, severe hemorrhoids, recent bowel surgery, heart or kidney disease, or pregnancy are usually told to avoid it or check with their own physician first. New constipation, rectal bleeding, unexplained weight loss or a change in bowel habits needs a medical evaluation, and a colonoscopy if advised, rather than a colonic.

Supply is spread across the country and sits mostly in the wellness sector. Colon hydrotherapy is offered in stand alone colonic studios, day spas and medical spas, naturopathic and chiropractic offices, and integrative clinics that pair it with IV therapy, infrared sauna or nutrition counseling. Listings tend to be denser in large Sun Belt metros, including Dallas and Fort Worth, Houston and Austin in Texas, South Florida and Southern California, with steady supply around New York. Smaller cities often have one or two providers, so some people travel to a nearby metro for a session.

Before booking anywhere, ask who will perform the session and what training or certification they hold, and whether a licensed clinician oversees the health screening. Rules differ by state: Florida, for example, regulates colonic irrigation through its massage therapy license, while many states have no specific license at all. Ask whether the system is FDA cleared, whether the rectal tube and speculum are single use, how water is filtered and how equipment is disinfected between clients. Ask for written disclosure of risks and the screening questions they use. A clear quote itemizes a single session, any add ons such as abdominal massage or supplements, and package terms, including how to cancel.

This national list is not for sale. Organic order is never paid ranking, Featured slots are labeled and capped, and Verified means the clinic completed credential checks, not that it spent money. Regenerated.com is free for patients, and inclusion in the directory is not an endorsement. Use the state hubs below the list to build a shortlist of colon hydrotherapy providers closer to you.

Colon Hydrotherapy in the United States, answered.

Colon hydrotherapy is a procedure that flushes the large intestine with warm, filtered water through a disposable tube placed in the rectum. Water flows in gently, the abdomen may be massaged, and water and stool drain out through the same system. Closed systems are run by the therapist, while open systems let the client control release while lying on a basin. Colonics differ from enemas, which use a smaller volume of water and reach only the lower part of the colon.

Colonic irrigation is supported only for medically indicated bowel cleansing, such as preparing for certain imaging or endoscopic exams, and that is the use the FDA has cleared devices for. Claims about detoxification, weight loss, energy, skin or immune health are not backed by good quality trials, and major gastroenterology groups do not recommend routine colon cleansing. Published case reports describe dehydration, electrolyte problems and rare bowel perforation. Treat a wellness colonic as a personal choice with known risks.

A colon hydrotherapy center worth considering screens every client in writing, uses an FDA cleared irrigation system, opens a new single use tube and speculum for each session and can explain how it filters water and disinfects equipment. The person performing the session should hold recognized training, and in states such as Florida the required license. A good center tells you plainly that evidence is limited and will refer you to a physician if your symptoms suggest bowel disease.

Start on this national page, open the state hub for where you live, then the city hub, to see colon hydrotherapy providers listed near you. Read each profile for the setting, the treatments recorded and whether the clinic has completed Verified credential checks, then read reviews for comments on hygiene, privacy and how screening was handled. Regenerated.com does not rank clinics by quality or name a best provider, so call two or three and compare their answers.

People who should avoid colon hydrotherapy, or check with their own physician first, include anyone with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, severe hemorrhoids, anal fissures, recent bowel or abdominal surgery, colon or rectal tumors, heart failure, kidney disease or pregnancy. Rectal bleeding, ongoing abdominal pain or a recent change in bowel habits calls for medical evaluation before any cleanse. A responsible therapist asks about these conditions on a written intake form and declines to treat when they apply.

A colonic session begins with a health questionnaire and a short explanation of the equipment and the sensations to expect. You lie on a treatment table, a lubricated disposable tube is inserted a short distance into the rectum, and warm water is filled and released in cycles while the therapist may massage the abdomen. Cramping and a feeling of fullness are common. Afterward you use the bathroom, rehydrate and return to normal activities, and any plan for repeat visits should be explained in writing.

The cost of colon hydrotherapy is driven by the type of system, session length, the training of the person performing it, add ons such as abdominal massage or probiotics, local rents and package or membership terms. Health insurance rarely covers wellness colonics. This page publishes no averages because providers bundle services differently and change prices often. Ask each colon hydrotherapy provider for a written quote that itemizes the session, any add ons and the cancellation policy.

Colon hydrotherapy clinics on this national page appear in organic order that no clinic can buy. Featured slots are clearly labeled and capped, so paid placement never takes over the list. Verified means a clinic completed claim and credential checks, not that it spent money. Regenerated.com is free for patients, and being listed is not an endorsement. To check a clinician's license in any state, search the online license lookup run by that state's medical, nursing or massage therapy board.
