Ketamine Therapy clinics in Iowa
Ketamine therapy capacity in Iowa is concentrated in the state's larger metro areas rather than spread evenly across it. Des Moines carries the bulk of visible capacity, with Cedar Rapids and Iowa City also hosting services, and the Quad Cities area near Davenport gives eastern Iowa another regional option. Patients in rural counties and smaller towns should expect to travel to one of these metros, and in border communities it is often just as practical to look toward clinics in neighboring Nebraska, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri or South Dakota as to drive across the state. A search should also distinguish intravenous ketamine infusions from nasal esketamine, sold under a brand name, and from compounded nasal or sublingual ketamine, since these are different products delivered under different conditions.
Iowa does not have a ketamine-specific statute separate from general medical and nursing practice law. Off-label IV ketamine for depression and other uses is supervised under the same scope-of-practice rules that apply to any physician-directed infusion, so expect it delivered in a medical office or infusion setting with a physician or advanced practice provider overseeing evaluation and monitoring. Ketamine affects blood pressure, alertness and perception during and after dosing, so ask specifically who is present for the infusion itself and for the recovery period afterward.
Verify a physician or physician assistant through the Iowa Board of Medicine, and a nurse or nurse practitioner through the Iowa Board of Nursing. Both publish license status and public disciplinary history online, though a clean record confirms standing rather than ketamine-specific experience or outcomes.
Before booking anywhere in the state, ask about the prescriber's and monitoring staff's credentials, exactly what is being administered and where it comes from, how risks are disclosed in writing, what the plan is if treatment does not help, and for an itemized quote covering evaluation, dosing, monitoring and follow-up.
This listing's order is not for sale. Organic placement is not paid ranking, Featured slots are labeled and capped, and a Verified badge reflects completed credential checks rather than advertising spend. Regenerated.com is free for patients to use, and appearing in this directory is not an endorsement of any listed clinic. The national ketamine therapy hub covers how the treatment works and what the current research supports. Regulatory context
A note on Iowa's ketamine therapy rules.
Ketamine is a DEA Schedule III controlled substance, FDA-approved as a dissociative anesthetic and used off-label for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and chronic pain. The FDA approved esketamine (Spravato) in 2019 for treatment-resistant depression under a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program that requires in-office administration at certified sites. MDMA-assisted therapy remains Schedule I; the FDA issued a Complete Response Letter in August 2024 to Lykos Therapeutics on its MDMA new drug application. Psilocybin is Schedule I and holds FDA Breakthrough Therapy designation through sponsors such as Compass Pathways and Usona, but has not received FDA approval. Oregon Measure 109 (passed 2020, operational 2023) created a state psilocybin service center framework, and Colorado Proposition 122 (2022) authorized regulated healing centers.

Iowa Controlled Substances Act (Iowa Code 124)
Mirrors federal scheduling; no therapeutic access framework.
Iowa enforces federal scheduling strictly. The Iowa Board of Medicine and Iowa Board of Pharmacy oversee prescribing and compounding. DEA enforcement on ketamine clinics focuses on diversion, sterile compounding, and Ryan Haight Act telehealth rules. Iowa PMP requires controlled substance reporting within one business day.
