New York
Cryotherapy covers two different things, which matters if you landed here searching for cryosurgery in New York. Whole-body cryotherapy is a walk-in wellness session in a chamber or cabin, usually offered at a recovery studio or medical spa. Cryosurgery is a localized procedure, typically done in a dermatology or physician's office, that freezes a skin lesion such as a wart or a patch of actinic keratosis. Both appear on this page, and the list below shows which setting each New York clinic operates in, so check that detail before you call.
Supply is concentrated around New York City. The five boroughs, Long Island, Westchester, and the lower Hudson Valley carry most of the listings here. Smaller clusters exist upstate around Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany. Across the North Country, the Southern Tier, and much of the Finger Lakes region, options are sparse, and residents there generally travel into the nearest metro, or in border counties, consider crossing into Pennsylvania, Vermont, or Massachusetts instead.
New York has no cryotherapy-specific statute, so general federal and professional rules apply. A whole-body chamber session is usually run by a trained technician rather than a licensed clinician. A localized freezing procedure is more often performed by a physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner working within New York's ordinary scope-of-practice rules. Ask which model a given clinic uses.
To verify a provider, check the New York State Education Department's Office of the Professions, which licenses physicians, physician assistants, and nurses and discloses license status and any public disciplinary history. It will not tell you anything about an unlicensed wellness technician's training, so ask about that directly. Before booking anywhere in the state, ask about staff credentials and supervision, what is being administered and where it comes from, how risks are disclosed in writing, what happens if you see no benefit, and for an itemized quote.
Listing order on this page is not paid ranking, Featured slots are labeled and capped, a Verified label means a clinic passed credential checks rather than paid more, the directory is free for patients, and inclusion here is not an endorsement. The national cryotherapy hub on this site covers how the treatment works and what the evidence currently supports. See How to read a Regenerated city hub and Featured vs Verified vs organic.
Regulatory context
The "other" category is a catchall for regenerative wellness modalities with inconsistent federal oversight. Red light therapy devices (photobiomodulation) have narrow FDA 510(k) clearances for acne, muscle pain, and wound healing, not systemic regeneration. Whole-body cryotherapy is NOT FDA-approved for any medical indication and received an FDA safety communication in July 2016 warning of asphyxiation, frostbite, and burn risks. Ozone therapy is NOT FDA-approved for any medical use and the FDA has stated ozone is a toxic gas with no known useful medical application. Condition-specific regenerative offerings (hair restoration with minoxidil or finasteride, ED care beyond PDE5 inhibitors and shockwave) have varying approval depending on route and drug source.
New York is one of the strictest enforcement states. The Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC) has issued public guidance and pursued disciplinary action against medical spas for corporate practice violations, inappropriate RN or PA delegation, and false advertising of unapproved therapies. Ozone therapy faces heavy scrutiny, and clinics making cancer, Lyme, or autoimmune treatment claims have faced OPMC action and Attorney General consumer protection lawsuits. The NY AG pursues deceptive health claims aggressively under General Business Law Article 22-A.
