Wiseman Family Practice

Wiseman Family Practice has been a great place for my healthcare needs. In my experience they have a nice blend of “traditional” medicine and supplemental medicine. For me I don’t like to automatically be put on a medication without trying other options and trying to find the root cause of an issue (not just trying treat symptoms). I would highly recommend this practice. The “onboarding” for new patients can take some time (my experience back in 2017 so it could be different now) but it was well worth it.

Very frustrating experience with Wiseman Family Practice (both the Cedar Park & Georgetown locations). They’re very difficult to get ahold of. Communication is poor, and processes that should be simple become unnecessarily complicated. They charge $25 to submit a prior authorization for any medication, which I’ve never encountered at any other doctor’s office. I asked several times if the prior authorization could be rushed since I am completely out of my sensors and can’t refill my script until a new PA is submitted. It has now been 8 days and nothing has been submitted. Instead, I received a message from the office telling me to call my insurance AGAIN to confirm coverage and have them fax forms to the office, pushing their responsibilities onto the patient while still charging me $25. Visits feel like they just read lab results without actually helping address or solve ongoing health concerns. I’ve unfortunately had to rely on my own research to find ways to improve my health.

I’ve been a patient at Wiseman Family Practice - Cedar Park since 2020, but this year has been extremely disappointing. They canceled my appointment twice without notifying me ahead of time. The first time, they claimed they “didn’t have the right phone number,” which makes no sense since I’ve been their patient for years. The second cancellation also had no explanation, and both times I only found out after physically going to the office. They called twice and left messages asking me to call back, but neither message said that my appointment was canceled. When I call back, no one answers, and I have to leave a message. On top of that, I haven’t been able to schedule an appointment with my provider for over a month just for a basic lab work follow-up. The only date they offered me was 12/31, which is the day my insurance expires. I used to be a patient of Megan Wempe and was very happy with the care and location, but the current management clearly does not value communication, reliability, or patient time.
