Dr. Coats and team are life changing! I cannot recommend TMJ Plus enough. When I walked through the door two years ago, I was in extreme pain and had been to several other doctors and specialists with no results. Dr. Coats walked me through a comprehensive, step-by-step plan that allowed me to understand exactly what to expect and clear communication on cost for treatment and options. The level of thoughtful care and technical expertise is unmatched—she even checked in on me after my procedures. During my treatment, I felt comfortable, informed, and confident in my plan. Today, I successfully completed my treatment and can finally say I am pain free! Thank you Dr. Coats and team for their care over the last two years!

I recently met with Dr. Coats and she prepared a treatment plan for my jaw pain issues. For my first procedure, she performed a lip tie release two weeks ago. I had never heard of this, but she and her team provided me with detailed information and answered all my questions. The procedure was painless and the healing process was seamless. Her team provided videos and written materials and phone call follow-ups during my post treatment and I am thrilled with the results. Every member of the TMJ Plus team I’ve met is skillful and personable. They have treated me like a member of their family and I am so glad I trusted them to treat my TMJ issues. I strongly recommend Dr. Coats and encourage you to schedule a consultation if you are dealing with jaw pain. TMJ Plus is the best!

I had a very disappointing experience here. I don't understand why all the reviews are 5 star reviews! I Googled biological dentist and TMJ Wellness popped up right around the corner so I called over the summer, but I didn’t follow through. At the time the person who answered the phone was strangely not interested in my concerns. For lack of other biologic dentist options, I decided to call again and go in October 2025. I went in to address pain I suspected was from a cavity or infection, and a new night guard. When I called to book, the woman on the phone became very friendly midway through our conversation and, then told me she was recording our conversation for a vague reason. I remember thinking that was odd, although she was very friendly and helped ease some of my dental anxiety. She said I need to make a $250 deposit, which I assumed was because they weren’t on my insurance. The first appointment lasted two and a half hours! and it was nothing like a normal dental visit. There was no dentistry performed, instead, they took an endless stream of photos, X-rays, scans, and measurements. At one point, the lovely kind woman taking pictures mentioned how wonderful the hygienist was, and I thought, 'Great, finally — maybe I’ll get a cleaning or at least talk to someone about the toothache'. I never saw a hygienist. I never got a cleaning. By the end of the long appointment, I was exhausted. They told me I’d speak with the dentist at my next visit in a week. -- The next visit was 12 days later. At the next visit, I was taken into a small side room to “review my results” which already felt strange. Cynthia, the financial coordinator told me she will be recording our meeting and the dentist will come in a few minutes. Instead of speaking with a dentist about my tooth pain, I ended up sitting through a long sales presentation. It all culminated in a treatment plan totaling $16,000. They thoroughly explained that I had a serious issue supposedly affecting my quality of life. However, every point they emphasized as a reason for treatment was something I already knew wasn’t actually a concern. I was stunned. I came in hoping for a night guard and maybe help with a cavity — not a $16k "package". They showed an example of a “night guard” which was the silliest thing you’ve ever seen. Not a night guard but a piece of thick plastic the size of my thumb shaped like soft palate. I left feeling confused, drained, and honestly a bit tricked. The staff stayed incredibly kind and soft-spoken the whole time, but it was the kind of persistent, gentle pressure that leaves you wondering, 'Why do I feel so uneasy right now?' The dentist only came in briefly, and my impression was that their focus was more on selling a program than addressing my straightforward dental concerns. When I later called to express my dissatisfaction, Cynthia remained polite and professional, but she also gently reminded me that “we record our interactions,” which only confirmed what I had suspected. I paid $856 for pictures that I didn’t request, and wasted 4-5 hours on a sales pitch. She said the Doctor would call me but I have yet to receive a call. I certainly feel foolish for not picking up on this scam from the beginning. The extensive number of questions on their forms and the details they collected should have raised concerns immediately. I now believe they don’t take any insurance - they took pains to repeat “we can help file your claims” several times, like it’s a helpful favor, without saying up front that they don’t accept insurance. Everyone at this business is very kind and gracious. Even when I called to express my dissatisfaction Cynthia was polite, respectful, and very professional. But they could have saved me both time and frustration by clearly stating upfront that their focus was selling a $16,000 surgical procedure rather than providing a simple dental cleaning and a night guard.
