Cryotherapy clinics in Texas

If you want to book professional cryotherapy at a reputable wellness center in Texas, start with the four large metros, because that is where most of the 79 clinics on this page are. Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio carry the bulk of Texas cryotherapy listings, mostly recovery studios, wellness centers and med spas, with a smaller share inside physician practices. Outside those metros the choice thins out. El Paso, the Rio Grande Valley, Corpus Christi, Lubbock, Amarillo and Midland-Odessa have far fewer options, and in rural West Texas or the Panhandle a single session can mean a drive of several hours. In the far corners of the state, a clinic across the line in a neighboring state is sometimes the shorter trip.

Texas does not license cryotherapy as a separate profession, so the rules that apply are the general federal and professional ones. Most whole-body chamber sessions take place in a wellness setting run by trained staff rather than a licensed clinician, and the FDA has not cleared those chambers to treat any medical condition. Localized cryotherapy on a skin lesion, or any session offered as treatment for a diagnosis, belongs with a physician, physician assistant or nurse working within ordinary Texas scope of practice.

A reputable center is one you can check. Search the Texas Medical Board for physicians and physician assistants, and the Texas Board of Nursing for nurses. A lookup confirms an active license and shows public disciplinary orders, but it says nothing about a studio technician's training, so ask about that directly. Before booking anywhere in Texas, ask who supervises sessions, which device is used and how temperature and exposure time are controlled, how risks and exclusions are disclosed in writing, what happens if you notice no benefit, and what a written quote itemizes.

Listing order on this page is organic and is not for sale. Featured slots are labeled and capped, Verified means a clinic passed credential checks rather than spent more, Regenerated.com is free for patients, and inclusion here is not an endorsement. For how cryotherapy works and what the evidence supports, see the national cryotherapy hub. To read this page well, see How to read a Regenerated city hub and Featured vs Verified vs organic.

Regulatory context

A note on Texas's cryotherapy rules.

The "other" category is a catchall for regenerative wellness modalities with inconsistent federal oversight. Red light therapy devices (photobiomodulation) have narrow FDA 510(k) clearances for acne, muscle pain, and wound healing, not systemic regeneration. Whole-body cryotherapy is NOT FDA-approved for any medical indication and received an FDA safety communication in July 2016 warning of asphyxiation, frostbite, and burn risks. Ozone therapy is NOT FDA-approved for any medical use and the FDA has stated ozone is a toxic gas with no known useful medical application. Condition-specific regenerative offerings (hair restoration with minoxidil or finasteride, ED care beyond PDE5 inhibitors and shockwave) have varying approval depending on route and drug source.

  • Texas Medical Practice Act (Tex. Occ. Code Title 3, Subtitle B)
Defines practice of medicine and delegation rules for wellness settings.
  • Texas Medical Board Rules (22 Tex. Admin. Code Ch. 193)
Governs physician delegation to nonphysicians and nonsurgical medical cosmetic procedures at medical spas.
  • Texas Health & Safety Code Ch. 1003
Allows physician delegation of certain medical acts to properly trained nonphysicians under protocols.

The Texas Medical Board investigates unlicensed medical practice and scope violations and has issued specific rules governing medical spa practice. Ozone and chelation clinics making disease-treatment claims risk board action. The Attorney General pursues deceptive health claims under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Enforcement is moderate but the TMB has taken active positions on medical spa delegation and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures.

Cryotherapy in , answered.

Cryotherapy usually means either a whole-body chamber session of a few minutes at very cold temperatures, aimed at recovery and general wellness, or a localized device that cools or freezes a small area. Freezing certain skin lesions is established medical practice. Claims about recovery, pain, mood or weight rest on small or early studies, and the FDA has not cleared whole-body chambers for any medical condition, so treat those benefits as possible rather than established.

Most Texas cryotherapy listings sit in Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio. El Paso, Corpus Christi, the Rio Grande Valley, Lubbock, Amarillo and Midland-Odessa have fewer, and much of rural Texas has none nearby. If you live outside the major metros, expect to drive to one of them, plan sessions around trips you already make, or compare a closer option across a state line.

Cryotherapy in Texas is almost always cash pay, and insurance rarely covers whole-body sessions because they are not billed as medical treatment. Prices vary with single sessions versus memberships or packages, the type of device, and whether a clinician is involved. This page does not publish averages because those offers are not comparable. Ask for a written quote that lists the per-session price, package terms, cancellation rules and any add-on services.

Texas does not license cryotherapy as its own profession, so the general federal and professional rules apply. A wellness studio running a whole-body chamber typically uses trained technicians, while a medical practice offering localized or diagnosis-based treatment works under a licensed physician, physician assistant or nurse. Ask each Texas clinic which model it uses and who is responsible if something goes wrong, and check the state regulation details shown elsewhere on this page.

Use the public license lookup at the Texas Medical Board for physicians and physician assistants, and at the Texas Board of Nursing for registered nurses and nurse practitioners. A search confirms the license is active and shows any public disciplinary action. It will not cover a cryotherapy technician who holds no state license, so ask the clinic what training its staff completed and who supervises them.

People with uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart or circulation problems, Raynaud's, cold sensitivity disorders, recent stroke, seizures, open wounds, or pregnancy are commonly told to skip whole-body cryotherapy or get medical clearance first. Children and anyone on medication that affects circulation should ask a physician too. A careful Texas clinic will screen you with written health questions before your first session rather than just taking payment.

Reviews tell you about cleanliness, staff and booking, but they cannot show whether cryotherapy worked for a condition. On this page, organic order is not sold, Featured slots are labeled and capped, and Verified means the clinic passed credential checks rather than paid more. The directory is free for patients and inclusion is not an endorsement, so use reviews and labels as a starting point, then ask your own questions.

This state page helps you decide where in Texas to look, or whether to travel. City pages list cryotherapy clinics within one metro and cover local detail, and the national cryotherapy hub explains how the treatment works and what the evidence shows. A plain web search mixes ads, paid placements and old listings, while this page keeps organic order separate from labeled Featured slots.
