Oxygen Therapy clinics in California

California's oxygen therapy listings mostly describe two different services sold under one heading: hyperbaric oxygen therapy, delivered inside a pressurized chamber, and exercise with oxygen therapy, which pairs supplemental oxygen with a stationary bike or treadmill session at normal pressure. If a search led you here looking for ozone therapy, note that ozone therapy uses a different gas and a different method and is a separate treatment from the oxygen services listed on this page; confirm which service a provider actually offers before booking.

Supply across the state is uneven. Most hyperbaric and EWOT providers cluster in the state's largest metros: the Los Angeles basin, the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, and Sacramento carry the bulk of the listings here. The Central Valley, the far northern counties, and much of the Sierra foothills have few or none, and residents there typically travel to one of those metro areas or coordinate care through a regional hospital system rather than a standalone wellness clinic.

California does not set a treatment-specific rule for hyperbaric oxygen therapy or EWOT beyond the general federal and professional standards that already govern medical oxygen and chamber equipment. Expect care to run through a physician office, a hospital-based hyperbaric unit, or a wellness setting with equipment staff rather than a clinician; ask who directly supervises your session either way. To verify a provider's credentials, check the Medical Board of California for physicians and physician assistants, and the California Board of Registered Nursing for RNs. A clean license record confirms standing, not that a specific chamber or program is appropriate for your diagnosis.

Before booking anywhere in the state, ask what is being administered, who supervises it, what the written risk disclosure covers, and what happens if the treatment does not help. Request a quote that itemizes evaluation, treatment, supplies, and follow up.

Listing order on this page is not for sale. Featured placements are labeled and limited, Verified reflects completed credential checks rather than advertising spend, Regenerated.com is free for patients, and appearing in the directory is not an endorsement. The national oxygen therapy hub covers mechanism and evidence across these services. For help reading the list, see How to read a Regenerated city hub and Featured vs Verified vs organic.

Regulatory context

A note on California's oxygen therapy rules.

FDA clears hyperbaric chambers as Class II medical devices under 21 CFR 878.5550. FDA has approved hyperbaric oxygen therapy for 14 specific indications aligned with the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). Use for those indications is evidence-based and generally covered by Medicare and commercial insurance when documentation supports medical necessity. Any use outside the 14 approved indications is considered off-label and is not FDA-approved. FDA issued consumer updates in 2013 and again in 2021 warning patients and providers against marketing HBOT for unapproved conditions such as autism, cancer, Alzheimer disease, and long COVID.

  • California Business & Professions Code Division 2, Chapter 5 (Medical Practice Act)
Governs physician scope, delegation, and advertising standards applicable to HBOT in California.
  • NFPA 99 Chapter 14 (adopted by state fire code)
Sets facility safety requirements for hyperbaric chamber operation.

California Department of Public Health licenses outpatient surgery and certain HBOT facilities. The Medical Board of California has pursued action against licensees promoting unproven therapies under Business & Professions Code 2234. CMS MAC Noridian reviews HBOT claims for documentation of a covered indication. California Attorney General and county DAs have brought cases under Business & Professions Code 17500 against deceptive medical advertising, which can reach off-label HBOT marketing.

Most listings cluster around the state's largest metro areas, including the Los Angeles basin, the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, and Sacramento. Inland and rural counties, including much of the Central Valley and the far north, have little or no dedicated capacity, so residents there often travel to a metro clinic or arrange care through a regional hospital system. Confirm driving distance and appointment availability before committing to a schedule.

Cost depends on the diagnosis, the setting, chamber time, supervision, and how many sessions a clinician recommends, so totals vary widely across providers. Many wellness uses are cash pay, while medically accepted indications may qualify for insurance coverage if your plan's criteria are met. Ask your insurer directly and request a written quote itemizing evaluation, treatment, supplies, and follow up. This page does not publish average prices.

California has no treatment-specific rule beyond the general federal and professional standards that already apply to medical oxygen and pressurized chamber equipment. In practice, care is delivered through a physician office, a hospital-based hyperbaric unit, or a wellness setting where staff operate equipment under some degree of oversight. Ask directly who supervises your session, since supervision and setting vary even within the same metro area.

Physicians and physician assistants can be checked through the Medical Board of California, and registered nurses through the California Board of Registered Nursing. Both let you confirm whether a license is active and review any public disciplinary history. A clean record shows the clinician is in good standing; it does not confirm that a particular chamber or program suits your specific diagnosis.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is an established treatment for decompression sickness and is typically delivered through a hospital-based or specialized chamber program rather than a general wellness clinic. Someone with suspected decompression sickness needs urgent medical evaluation rather than a routine appointment, and a listing here should be confirmed for emergency capability before it is relied on for that purpose.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has established uses such as decompression sickness and certain wound and radiation injury cases, supported by clinical evidence. For autism and many wellness claims circulating online, including dramatic before-and-after comparisons, the evidence is limited and these are not approved uses. A clinician who understands your diagnosis, not marketing material, should guide whether any form of oxygen therapy is appropriate.

Some chambers are marketed for sale, rental, or home use, but unsupervised use raises real safety questions, including fire risk, pressure-related injury, and oxygen toxicity, and most clinical benefits were established under supervised protocols. Equipment clearance for a device does not mean every marketed use is supported or safe without a clinician monitoring the session. A supervised clinical or hospital setting remains the lower-risk option.

This page gathers oxygen therapy providers across the whole state, while a city page narrows to one metro with local detail, and the national hub explains mechanism and evidence generally. Organic order here is not for sale, Featured slots are labeled and capped, and Verified means a provider completed credential checks rather than paid for the label. Inclusion in any of these lists is not an endorsement.
