Oxygen Therapy clinics in Georgia

If you searched for an oxygen clinic in Georgia, you are probably looking for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, where you breathe concentrated oxygen inside a pressurized chamber, though the same search sometimes turns up wellness settings offering milder soft chambers or supervised oxygen exercise instead, a different service with different oversight. This page gathers both kinds of provider across the state so you can decide where to go. Listings follow population, with metro Atlanta carrying most of them and smaller numbers around Savannah, Augusta, Macon, Columbus and Athens. Much of south Georgia and the northwest mountains has little or nothing listed, so people there often drive an hour or more, or cross into Chattanooga, Jacksonville or Tallahassee instead.

Georgia does not add a distinctive hyperbaric rule beyond the general federal and professional ones. Medical oxygen is a prescription drug, chambers are regulated as medical devices, and hyperbaric care is usually delivered in hospital wound care programs or physician offices under a supervising physician. Wellness studios with soft chambers sit at the other end of the range, and their clinical oversight varies. The regulation block on this page carries the sourced detail.

To check a provider, search the Georgia Composite Medical Board for physicians and physician assistants, and the Georgia Board of Nursing for nurses. A lookup confirms license status and public disciplinary orders. It will not tell you whether someone has hyperbaric training, how the chamber is maintained, or what credential the technician running it holds.

Before booking, ask who supervises each session and who is on site, what pressure and oxygen concentration you will receive, and whether the chamber is a hard medical unit or a soft wellness unit. Ask for written risks, including ear and sinus injury, oxygen toxicity and fire precautions, what happens without improvement, and an itemized quote for evaluation, sessions and follow up. Many wellness uses are cash pay and are not FDA approved for the purpose advertised.

Organic order on this page is never sold. Featured slots are labeled and capped, Verified means a clinic passed credential checks rather than paid for placement, and Regenerated.com is free for patients. Being listed is not an endorsement. The national oxygen therapy hub explains how the treatment works and what the evidence shows. To compare listings, read How to read a Regenerated city hub and Featured vs Verified vs organic.

Regulatory context

A note on Georgia's oxygen therapy rules.

FDA clears hyperbaric chambers as Class II medical devices under 21 CFR 878.5550. FDA has approved hyperbaric oxygen therapy for 14 specific indications aligned with the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). Use for those indications is evidence-based and generally covered by Medicare and commercial insurance when documentation supports medical necessity. Any use outside the 14 approved indications is considered off-label and is not FDA-approved. FDA issued consumer updates in 2013 and again in 2021 warning patients and providers against marketing HBOT for unapproved conditions such as autism, cancer, Alzheimer disease, and long COVID.

  • Georgia Medical Practice Act (O.C.G.A. Title 43, Chapter 34)
Governs physician scope, delegation, and advertising standards applicable to HBOT in Georgia.
  • NFPA 99 Chapter 14 (adopted by state fire code)
Sets facility safety requirements for hyperbaric chamber operation.

The Georgia Composite Medical Board investigates advertising and scope complaints. The Georgia Department of Community Health licenses certain healthcare facilities. CMS MAC Palmetto GBA adjudicates HBOT claims in Georgia and denies claims without documentation of a UHMS indication. The Georgia Attorney General enforces the Fair Business Practices Act against deceptive medical claims.

Most Georgia listings sit in and around metro Atlanta, with smaller clusters near Savannah, Augusta, Macon, Columbus and Athens. Rural south Georgia and the northwest corner have few options, so a long drive is common for people living there. Some patients near the borders find it easier to use a chamber in Chattanooga, Jacksonville or Tallahassee. Check each listing's treatment address, since a series of sessions makes travel time matter.

The price depends on the setting, the type of chamber, physician supervision, the length of each session and how many are recommended. Hospital based care for specific approved diagnoses may be covered when an insurer's criteria are met, while wellness uses are usually cash pay. Ask for a written quote that itemizes evaluation, sessions, facility fees and follow up. This page does not publish averages because services and coverage differ too widely to compare fairly.

Georgia generally follows the federal and professional standards rather than a separate hyperbaric rule. Oxygen at treatment levels is prescribed, and medical programs typically run under a supervising physician, while wellness studios vary in oversight. To check a provider, search the Georgia Composite Medical Board for physicians and physician assistants and the Georgia Board of Nursing for nurses. Those lookups show license status and public discipline, but not hyperbaric training or how a chamber is maintained.

Decompression sickness is an emergency, and it is treated in hospital based chambers with physician staff and urgent access, not in wellness studios. If symptoms appear after a dive, call emergency services first and let them direct you to an appropriate facility. Most clinics on this page offer scheduled sessions and are not set up for emergency dive injuries, so do not plan to drive to one instead of getting urgent care.

Established medical uses include decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, certain hard to heal wounds and radiation injury, which is why hospital programs in Georgia focus on them. Benefits claimed for recovery, wellness, brain fog or autism rest on much thinner evidence, and reviews have not found reliable benefit for autism. Before and after stories online are not controlled studies. Ask any Georgia provider which evidence supports your specific reason for treatment.

Candidates usually have a condition with recognized evidence and a physician who has reviewed their history and medications. People with an untreated collapsed lung, certain lung diseases, recent ear or sinus surgery, uncontrolled seizures or severe claustrophobia are often told to wait or avoid treatment. Pregnancy and some medications also need review. A careful Georgia provider screens you before the first session and explains in writing why you are or are not a fit.

Soft chambers sold or rented for home use run at low pressure and are marketed mainly for wellness, which is a different service from the medical hyperbaric care offered in Georgia hospitals. Adding concentrated oxygen to any chamber raises fire risk and calls for a prescription and proper equipment. Talk with a physician before buying or renting one, and be cautious of sellers who promise specific health results.

This state page helps you compare regions and decide whether to travel, while city pages cover local detail and the national hub covers the science. Unlike ads in a web search, organic order here is never sold. Featured slots are labeled and capped, and Verified means a clinic passed credential checks rather than paid for the label. Regenerated.com is free for patients, and inclusion in the directory is not an endorsement.
