Reno, NV

IV Therapy clinics in Reno

Reno sits at 4,505 feet in the high desert of the Sierra Nevada's eastern slope, a tourism and tech hub with the Tesla Gigafactory to the east, Lake Tahoe to the west, and the University of Nevada Reno anchoring downtown. The local IV therapy market serves casino employees, Tesla and Panasonic workers at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center, and the Lake Tahoe recreation community doing ski, bike, and lake-sports recovery. Clinics cluster along Kietzke Lane, South Virginia Street, and near Renown Regional Medical Center. Nevada Board of Nursing rules allow RNs to place peripheral IVs under physician delegation, and Nevada APRNs have independent practice and prescriptive authority under Nevada Revised Statute 632.237. Altitude dehydration, smoke exposure from California and Nevada wildfires, and casino hangover recovery drive steady demand.

Regulatory context

A note on Nevada's iv therapy rules.

FDA regulates the compounded ingredients used in IV therapy and the facilities that prepare them. Patient-specific compounded IVs fall under FDCA Section 503A, while bulk preparations for office use fall under Section 503B (outsourcing facilities). USP Chapter 797 governs sterile compounding standards. FDA has issued warnings about injectable glutathione marketed for skin lightening (2017) and has not approved NAD IV for any specific indication. Vitamin and mineral IV mixtures such as the Myers cocktail are compounded preparations and are not FDA-approved drug products.

  • Nevada Nurse Practice Act (NRS Ch. 632)
Defines RN scope including IV insertion and administration under a valid order from a physician or APRN.
  • Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners delegation rules (NRS Ch. 630)
Governs physician delegation of IV therapy through standing orders and medical director arrangements.

The Nevada medical and nursing boards have addressed unlicensed practice in medical spa and IV lounge settings. Common enforcement themes include IV therapy administered without a valid physician order, stale or missing standing orders, absence of a designated medical director, and unlicensed personnel performing venipuncture. Boards have reiterated that a prescribing physician or APRN must establish a bona fide patient relationship before any IV protocol is initiated, and that standing orders must be specific, dated, and periodically reviewed.

IV Therapy in Reno, answered.

Reno pricing sits in the mid-range for western metros. Basic hydration drips cost $120 to $175, Myers cocktails $145 to $225, and NAD+ infusions $300 to $800 depending on dose. Glutathione and B12 add-ons run $35 to $75 each. Mobile service to Sparks, South Lake Tahoe, or Incline Village adds a $50 to $125 travel fee. Memberships drop repeat drip pricing by 15 to 20 percent.

Nevada grants APRNs independent practice and prescriptive authority under NRS 632.237, and RNs place IVs under physician or APRN delegation. Most Reno clinics run a brief intake before the first drip. NAD+ and high-dose vitamin C protocols typically require a consult with the medical director first.

The Nevada State Board of Pharmacy enforces USP 797 for sterile compounding. Reputable Reno clinics source glutathione and other compounded nutrients from 503A or 503B pharmacies after the FDA's 2017 warning against non-sterile bulk glutathione. NAD+ remains investigational and is not FDA-approved for IV use. Good clinics take vitals, screen for G6PD before vitamin C, document lot numbers, and keep emergency medications on hand.

High-desert altitude hydration, Lake Tahoe ski and lake recovery, wildfire smoke antioxidant support, and casino hangover recovery drive most local demand. Reno clinics also see patients managing long COVID, chronic fatigue, and perimenopause with Myers cocktails, glutathione, and NAD+. Hangover drips pick up around Hot August Nights and Reno Rodeo week.

Verify the RN and APRN license through the Nevada State Board of Nursing license lookup, and check the medical director's NPI in the national registry. Ask which compounding pharmacy supplies their bags and whether they comply with USP 797. A trustworthy clinic runs a real intake, takes vitals, documents lot numbers, and has a clear emergency protocol. Avoid any operation that cannot name its medical director.
