New York City, NY
Red light therapy in New York City is offered mostly by recovery and wellness studios, medical spas, dermatology practices, and chiropractic and physical therapy offices. In Manhattan, providers cluster in Midtown, the Flatiron District, SoHo, Tribeca and the Upper East Side, where many medical offices sit close to the East Side hospitals. Across the rivers, Williamsburg and Park Slope in Brooklyn and Long Island City and Astoria in Queens have their own options, while Staten Island and much of the Bronx have fewer. Because sessions are usually repeated, a provider near your subway line, office or home often matters more than one across town.
If you searched for a particular studio or membership brand together with New York, including round-the-clock or self-serve recovery memberships, look for that name in the list of 42 providers on this page. This copy does not describe or rate individual businesses. The list shows who is listed, where they are and what each profile says, so you can compare a name you already know with alternatives in the same neighborhood.
At a studio, a first visit is often a short intake, a walkthrough of the bed or panel, eye protection and a timed session run by trained staff. At a dermatology or physical therapy office, a licensed clinician usually assesses the skin problem or injury first and decides whether light belongs in a wider plan. Follow up is typically a schedule of repeat visits agreed in advance and reviewed if nothing changes.
Before booking, ask who operates the device and who supervises them, which manufacturer, model and wavelengths are used, and whether the device has FDA clearance for your purpose. Ask for risks, photosensitivity and medication questions and eye protection rules in writing, what happens if the sessions do not help, and a quote that separates single visits, packages, memberships, add-ons and cancellation terms. Most of this is cash pay, and evidence for broad wellness claims is thin.
Listing order here is not paid ranking. Featured slots are labeled and capped, Verified means credential checks rather than advertising spend, and Regenerated.com is free for patients. Inclusion is not an endorsement. For how the treatment works and what research supports, see the national red light therapy hub. Regulatory context
The "other" category is a catchall for regenerative wellness modalities with inconsistent federal oversight. Red light therapy devices (photobiomodulation) have narrow FDA 510(k) clearances for acne, muscle pain, and wound healing, not systemic regeneration. Whole-body cryotherapy is NOT FDA-approved for any medical indication and received an FDA safety communication in July 2016 warning of asphyxiation, frostbite, and burn risks. Ozone therapy is NOT FDA-approved for any medical use and the FDA has stated ozone is a toxic gas with no known useful medical application. Condition-specific regenerative offerings (hair restoration with minoxidil or finasteride, ED care beyond PDE5 inhibitors and shockwave) have varying approval depending on route and drug source.
New York is one of the strictest enforcement states. The Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC) has issued public guidance and pursued disciplinary action against medical spas for corporate practice violations, inappropriate RN or PA delegation, and false advertising of unapproved therapies. Ozone therapy faces heavy scrutiny, and clinics making cancer, Lyme, or autoimmune treatment claims have faced OPMC action and Attorney General consumer protection lawsuits. The NY AG pursues deceptive health claims aggressively under General Business Law Article 22-A.
