Virginia
Arthritis treatment in Virginia is concentrated where the population is. Northern Virginia, the Richmond area and Hampton Roads carry most of the clinics on this list, with smaller clusters around Charlottesville, Roanoke and Lynchburg. Southwest Virginia, Southside and the Eastern Shore have few options, and patients there often drive several hours or cross into Tennessee, North Carolina or Maryland for care. Northern Virginia residents also use providers in Washington, DC and suburban Maryland, so comparing across the state line is reasonable if that is closer.
The care listed here ranges from rheumatology and physical therapy to joint injections for osteoarthritis (OA) and other arthritis: corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid (viscosupplementation), platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and cell based products often marketed as stem cell therapy. Virginia has no rule specific to arthritis treatment, so federal rules on biologic products and the state's ordinary scope of practice framework apply. Injections are usually given by orthopedists, physiatrists or sports medicine physicians in physician offices, or in wellness clinics, where it matters most to ask who performs the procedure and which physician supervises it. Most regenerative injections are cash pay, and many are not FDA approved for arthritis.
To check a provider, use the license lookup that the Virginia Department of Health Professions runs. Physicians and physician assistants are licensed by the Board of Medicine, nurses by the Virginia Board of Nursing, and nurse practitioners jointly by both boards. A lookup confirms an active license and any public disciplinary orders, but not whether an injection suits your joints or how often the provider performs it.
Before booking anywhere in the state, ask who holds the license and who supervises, exactly what is being injected and where it comes from, and ask for the risks in writing. Ask what the plan is if the treatment does not help, and get a quote that itemizes evaluation, imaging, the procedure and follow-up visits.
Listing order is not paid ranking, so clinics on this page are not ranked by payment. Featured slots are labeled and capped, Verified means a clinic completed credential checks rather than paid for placement, and Regenerated.com is free for patients. Being listed is not an endorsement. For how arthritis treatments work and what the evidence shows, see the national arthritis treatment hub. Regulatory context
The "other" category is a catchall for regenerative wellness modalities with inconsistent federal oversight. Red light therapy devices (photobiomodulation) have narrow FDA 510(k) clearances for acne, muscle pain, and wound healing, not systemic regeneration. Whole-body cryotherapy is NOT FDA-approved for any medical indication and received an FDA safety communication in July 2016 warning of asphyxiation, frostbite, and burn risks. Ozone therapy is NOT FDA-approved for any medical use and the FDA has stated ozone is a toxic gas with no known useful medical application. Condition-specific regenerative offerings (hair restoration with minoxidil or finasteride, ED care beyond PDE5 inhibitors and shockwave) have varying approval depending on route and drug source.
The Virginia Department of Health Professions and Board of Medicine investigate unlicensed practice and scope violations. Ozone and chelation clinics making disease-treatment claims risk board action. The Attorney General pursues deceptive health claims under the Virginia Consumer Protection Act. Enforcement is moderate and complaint-driven with attention to Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads markets.
