Psychedelic Therapy clinics in Colorado

Guided psychedelic-assisted therapy in Colorado can mean two different services, and it helps to know which one you want before you compare listings. One is a supervised psilocybin session at a state-licensed healing center, led by a state-licensed facilitator under Colorado's natural medicine program, which adults can use without a prescription or a diagnosis. The other is ketamine-assisted treatment in a medical or mental health practice, where a prescriber evaluates you and clinical staff monitor the session. A facilitated psilocybin session is not medical treatment, psilocybin remains illegal under federal law, and a facilitator is not necessarily a licensed clinician, so ask whether a licensed therapist is involved if that matters to you.

Most of the supply sits along the Front Range. The Denver metro carries the largest share, with Boulder, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs adding more, and a few mountain resort communities have options of their own. The Western Slope, the San Luis Valley and the Eastern Plains have little or nothing, so people there should expect a long drive and possibly an overnight stay, since a session can take most of a day and you should not drive yourself home afterwards.

To check a provider, look up physicians and physician assistants with the Colorado Medical Board and nurses with the Colorado State Board of Nursing, both through the Department of Regulatory Agencies, whose online lookup also covers psychologists, counselors and social workers. Facilitators and healing centers hold separate natural medicine licenses, so ask for both and confirm them with the state program. A lookup shows whether a license is active and any public discipline. It does not tell you about skill, results or fit.

Before booking anywhere in the state, ask who leads and supervises the session and what their credentials are, exactly what is being given and where it comes from, how screening and risks are explained in writing, what happens if a session goes badly or does not help, and what a written quote itemizes. The state regulation summary on this page covers the formal rules.

Regulatory context

A note on Colorado's psychedelic therapy rules.

Ketamine is a DEA Schedule III controlled substance, FDA-approved as a dissociative anesthetic and used off-label for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and chronic pain. The FDA approved esketamine (Spravato) in 2019 for treatment-resistant depression under a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program that requires in-office administration at certified sites. MDMA-assisted therapy remains Schedule I; the FDA issued a Complete Response Letter in August 2024 to Lykos Therapeutics on its MDMA new drug application. Psilocybin is Schedule I and holds FDA Breakthrough Therapy designation through sponsors such as Compass Pathways and Usona, but has not received FDA approval. Oregon Measure 109 (passed 2020, operational 2023) created a state psilocybin service center framework, and Colorado Proposition 122 (2022) authorized regulated healing centers.

  • Colorado Proposition 122 / Natural Medicine Health Act (2022)
Decriminalized personal use of psilocybin, psilocyn, DMT, ibogaine, and mescaline (non-peyote) for adults 21+; authorized state-licensed Healing Centers for psilocybin-assisted therapy, with MDMA access permitted by state rule after June 2026.
  • SB 23-290 Natural Medicine Regulation and Legalization
Implementing legislation establishing the Natural Medicine Division within DORA and the licensure framework for facilitators, healing centers, cultivators, and product manufacturers.

Colorado Healing Centers began licensing and operating in late 2024 and early 2025. The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Natural Medicine Division oversees facilitator licensure, healing center operations, testing, and track-and-trace. Federal law still classifies psilocybin as Schedule I, so DEA enforcement risk remains theoretical. The Colorado Medical Board regulates ketamine prescribing. Ryan Haight Act applies to telehealth ketamine.

Most listings in Colorado are on the Front Range, led by the Denver metro, with more in Boulder, Fort Collins and Colorado Springs and a handful in mountain resort towns. The Western Slope, San Luis Valley and Eastern Plains have few or none. If you live outside those areas, plan for travel, arrange a ride home after the session, and ask whether preparation and integration meetings can happen by video so you only travel for the session itself.

Colorado allows adults to take part in supervised psilocybin sessions at state-licensed healing centers with state-licensed facilitators, without a prescription. That state permission does not change federal law, under which psilocybin remains illegal, and it does not make a facilitated session a medical treatment. Ketamine is a different case: it is a prescription drug used off label for mental health conditions, so it is provided through licensed medical practices. The regulation summary on this page sets out the state rules in more detail.

Cost depends on the substance, whether the session is facilitated psilocybin or medical ketamine care, how many preparation and integration meetings are included, and whether a licensed therapist takes part. Facilitated psilocybin sessions are cash pay, and most ketamine-assisted care is too, though some related services may be billable. Ask for a written quote that separates screening, preparation, the session, medication, monitoring and integration. This page does not publish averages because pricing varies too widely to be useful.

Colorado's Department of Regulatory Agencies runs an online license lookup. Use it to check physicians and physician assistants with the Colorado Medical Board, nurses with the Colorado State Board of Nursing, and psychologists, counselors and social workers with their boards. Psilocybin facilitators and healing centers hold separate natural medicine licenses, so ask for those numbers and confirm them with the state program. A lookup confirms active status and public discipline, not skill or outcomes.

Adults with depression, anxiety, PTSD or related concerns that have not improved with standard care are the people most often screened for these services. Providers commonly advise waiting or choosing another route for pregnancy, certain heart conditions, uncontrolled blood pressure, a personal or family history of psychosis or bipolar disorder, and some medications. Screening for a facilitated session is not a medical evaluation, so involve your own doctor before booking if you have health conditions.

Research on psilocybin and other psychedelics for depression, PTSD and substance use has produced encouraging early results, but trials are mostly small, follow-up is short, and no psilocybin treatment is FDA approved. Ketamine has a longer clinical track record, and a nasal form of esketamine is approved for some depression, while other ketamine uses are off label. Effects vary between people, and some have difficult experiences. Treat any confident claim of lasting results with caution.

This Colorado page shows listings across the whole state so you can see where supply is concentrated and decide whether to travel. City pages go into local detail for one metro, and the national psychedelic therapy hub covers how the treatments work and what the evidence shows. A general web search mixes advertising with listings and rarely tells you how results are ordered. Here the ordering rules are published, and profiles point you to credentials you can check yourself.

Organic order on this page is not for sale, so a clinic cannot pay to move up the main list. Featured slots are clearly labeled and capped in number. Verified means the clinic completed credential checks, not that it spent money. Using Regenerated.com is free for patients, and inclusion in the directory is not an endorsement of any provider. The Featured vs Verified vs organic guide explains each label in full.
