Texas
Texas is a large state, and psychedelic therapy, almost always ketamine-assisted treatment delivered outside a research trial, is not spread evenly across it. Most of the supply sits in a handful of metros: Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin and San Antonio each carry a meaningful share of listings, while much of West Texas, the Panhandle and South Texas outside the border cities have little or none. Someone searching for psychedelic therapy in Fort Worth is typically looking at the Dallas-Fort Worth metro as a whole, since Fort Worth has a smaller concentration than Dallas proper and patients in the western half of the metro often weigh offices on both sides of it. Readers outside these four metros should expect to travel and plan for more than one visit.
Texas has no psychedelic-specific statute covering this care, so the general framework for prescribing and monitored medical treatment applies. Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is usually delivered in a physician office or a dedicated infusion suite, sometimes alongside a licensed therapist, and less often in a wellness setting with a supervising prescriber. Who can administer or monitor a session follows ordinary scope of practice rules for physicians, physician assistants and nurses in Texas rather than any rule written for this treatment specifically.
To check a provider's standing in Texas, look up a physician or physician assistant through the Texas Medical Board's license verification, and check a nurse through the Texas Board of Nursing. These lookups confirm whether a license is active and show public disciplinary actions, but they cannot tell you whether an office follows good clinical practice day to day, so treat them as one input among several.
Before booking anywhere in the state, ask who the prescriber is and who supervises the session, what is being administered and where it comes from, and how risks and side effects are disclosed in writing rather than only said aloud. Ask what happens if treatment does not help, and request a quote that itemizes evaluation, medication, monitoring and any psychotherapy separately.
Listing order on this page is not a paid ranking. Featured placements are labeled and limited, Verified means the clinic passed a credential check rather than bought a better spot, and browsing this directory costs patients nothing. A listing here is not an endorsement. Read How to read a Regenerated city hub and Featured vs Verified vs organic for more on how listings and labels work.
Regulatory context
Ketamine is a DEA Schedule III controlled substance, FDA-approved as a dissociative anesthetic and used off-label for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and chronic pain. The FDA approved esketamine (Spravato) in 2019 for treatment-resistant depression under a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program that requires in-office administration at certified sites. MDMA-assisted therapy remains Schedule I; the FDA issued a Complete Response Letter in August 2024 to Lykos Therapeutics on its MDMA new drug application. Psilocybin is Schedule I and holds FDA Breakthrough Therapy designation through sponsors such as Compass Pathways and Usona, but has not received FDA approval. Oregon Measure 109 (passed 2020, operational 2023) created a state psilocybin service center framework, and Colorado Proposition 122 (2022) authorized regulated healing centers.
Texas enforces federal scheduling. The Texas Medical Board oversees prescriber conduct. DEA enforcement on ketamine clinics focuses on diversion and Ryan Haight Act telehealth rules. Texas PMP requires controlled substance reporting. Texas has seen rapid ketamine clinic growth in Austin, Dallas, and Houston markets with corresponding enforcement attention on compounding and telehealth practices.
