Ketamine Therapy clinics in Scottsdale
Ketamine therapy for depression in Scottsdale is usually arranged as monitored intravenous infusions or esketamine nasal sessions following a psychiatric evaluation, not as a walk-in service. Start by checking whether a provider evaluates depression and coordinates ongoing psychiatric care; a practice built around infusions for pain may have a different focus. Local options include offices on Scottsdale Road between Shea Boulevard and Cactus Road, with related services along the Shea corridor and in the Scottsdale Airpark area near Hayden Road. Scottsdale Road connects this area with Old Town, while Shea Boulevard gives access from Loop 101 and Paradise Valley; farther north, practices near Pima Road also serve Kierland and DC Ranch.
Check the treatment address before comparing travel plans, since some services advertised to Scottsdale residents operate in Phoenix. Arrange a responsible adult to take you home after treatment and ask about the clinic's discharge requirements. The trip matters beyond the first appointment: observation, recovery, and follow-up need to fit your support person's availability as well as yours.
IV treatment generally takes place in a medical office or infusion suite, where clinical staff administer medication under a prescribing clinician's treatment plan. An initial assessment should review your depression history, prior treatments, medications, blood pressure, and other medical concerns. Clarify whether the service is intravenous ketamine, nasal esketamine, or ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. IV ketamine for depression is off-label, not FDA approved for that use; nasal esketamine has specific approved indications and supervised monitoring requirements. Clinicians typically gauge early response before deciding whether to continue, since benefit and duration vary by person.
Before booking, ask who prescribes, who stays available during treatment, and what emergency support is on site. Request the medication's formulation and source, written risks, and an explanation of how response will be assessed. Ask when the plan would change or stop if it does not help. Many IV services are cash pay, so obtain a written quote covering assessment, monitoring, therapy, and follow-up charges.

Regulatory context
A note on Arizona's ketamine therapy rules.
Ketamine is a DEA Schedule III controlled substance, FDA-approved as a dissociative anesthetic and used off-label for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and chronic pain. The FDA approved esketamine (Spravato) in 2019 for treatment-resistant depression under a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program that requires in-office administration at certified sites. MDMA-assisted therapy remains Schedule I; the FDA issued a Complete Response Letter in August 2024 to Lykos Therapeutics on its MDMA new drug application. Psilocybin is Schedule I and holds FDA Breakthrough Therapy designation through sponsors such as Compass Pathways and Usona, but has not received FDA approval. Oregon Measure 109 (passed 2020, operational 2023) created a state psilocybin service center framework, and Colorado Proposition 122 (2022) authorized regulated healing centers.
-
Arizona Psilocybin Research Grant (SB 1726, 2023)
Allocated $5 million for whole-mushroom psilocybin clinical research; does not create a therapeutic access framework. -
Arizona Controlled Substances Act
Mirrors federal scheduling outside the research grant program.
Arizona enforces federal DEA scheduling and has not decriminalized psilocybin or MDMA. The Arizona Medical Board and Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners oversee prescribing conduct. DEA enforcement on ketamine clinics focuses on compounding sources, diversion, and billing fraud. Ryan Haight Act rules apply to telehealth ketamine prescriptions, with DEA flexibilities extended through 2025.
