United States
This is the national page for chelation therapy on Regenerated.com, listing clinics across the United States that record the treatment. Chelation therapy, also called chelation, IV chelation, EDTA chelation or heavy metal chelation, uses a drug called a chelating agent that binds metals in the blood so the kidneys can clear them in urine. Common agents include edetate calcium disodium (CaNa2EDTA), given by vein or injection, oral succimer (DMSA), injected dimercaprol (BAL), and DMPS, which is not FDA approved in the United States and is usually compounded. Iron chelators such as deferoxamine, deferasirox and deferiprone are a separate group used for iron overload. Medical toxicologists, hematologists, pediatricians, integrative physicians and naturopathic physicians prescribe it, and nurses usually run the infusions. People often compare it with IV therapy, glutathione infusions, oral detox supplements and standard cardiology care.
The evidence picture depends entirely on the use. Chelation is established, FDA approved treatment for confirmed lead poisoning and some other metal poisonings, and iron chelators are approved for iron overload from repeated blood transfusions, as in thalassemia. Use for heart disease is investigational. The NIH funded Trial to Assess Chelation Therapy (TACT), led by cardiologist Gervasio Lamas and published in JAMA in 2013, reported a modest reduction in cardiac events after heart attack, mostly in people with diabetes, and its follow up trial in people with diabetes, TACT2, did not confirm a benefit. Uses such as autism, fatigue, Alzheimer disease and general detox lack good evidence, and the FDA has warned against over the counter chelation products. The American College of Medical Toxicology advises against provoked urine tests, which can make normal metal levels look high.
A typical candidate has a confirmed diagnosis, such as elevated blood lead or a documented metal exposure, or transfusional iron overload, and is under specialist care. People with kidney disease, low calcium, pregnancy, or vague symptoms without a confirmed exposure are usually told to wait or see a medical toxicologist first. Disodium EDTA, a different drug from calcium disodium EDTA, has been linked to deaths from dangerously low calcium when the two were confused, so the exact drug name matters. If you suspect poisoning, your regional poison center can advise you before any clinic visit.
Supply is uneven nationwide. Hospital toxicology and hematology programs treat confirmed poisoning and iron overload, while most cash pay chelation is offered by integrative and functional medicine practices, naturopathic offices and infusion suites. Listings concentrate in Florida, especially South Florida and Palm Beach County, the Phoenix metro in Arizona, Southern California, and large Texas metros, and many patients travel for a course of care. Ask how lab monitoring and follow up will work once you are home.
Before booking anywhere, ask who prescribes the agent, which physician supervises the clinic, and check that license yourself with the state board. Ask exactly which drug you will receive, its dose, and whether it comes from a licensed manufacturer or a compounding pharmacy. Ask for written disclosure of risks such as kidney injury, low calcium, loss of essential minerals and allergic reaction. A clear quote itemizes the consultation, lab testing, each infusion and follow up.
This national list is not for sale. Organic order is never paid ranking, Featured slots are labeled and capped, and Verified means the clinic completed credential checks, not that it spent money. Regenerated.com is free for patients, and inclusion in the directory is not an endorsement. Use the state hubs below the list to build a shortlist closer to you.
